A good night to Dance

The invitation arrived at my door, delivered by a Ghoul and a Zombie, I thanked them and tipped them ten dollars, and they acted very happy to receive a tip. “The grateful dead”, I muttered as I opened the blood red (O negative, to be exact) envelope.

“Dear J.T. Rippaah, and guest are cordially invited to the Freddie K’s All Saints Cotilion, to be held at the “Devils Gateway”, at the “Circle of Cysquatch”, near the “Pet Sematary”, on “Devil Gate Drive”, at the witching hour. Please don’t be late, or all the human guests will have eaten”.

I hope would not be the usual “Monster Mash”, or another repeat of the “Litanies of Satan”. He does think he is the “One”.

Still, it will be held on the Sabbath this year, so hopefully it will be a “Black Sabbath”. Although in previous years, things had been a bit down, what with “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”, no longer would I hear those soul stirring words “We suck young blood”, or the ever popular “Fresh Blood”. With Bela gone, there were so few of the old ones left. I knew I would see Baron Zevon, he was one of the original “Werewolves of London”, my old home town. Ahh, the memories of the Baron and I roaming the streets of London, a couple of young razors, out on the tear, cutting across Whitechapel. The Baron always was a cut up. “Ahh the good old days” I thought.

Still, nothing stirs the blood more, or would if I had any, as a “Danse Macabre”, I was hoping to catch up with the “Children of the Corn”

I am sure it will be a “Thriller”, of a night. What to wear, what to wear. It will have to be an evening for a cloak, or maybe a “Dead Skin Mask”. Haven’t worn one of those for ages, although they did become the rage after that movie, Silence of the Lamb came out. It would be nice to trot out an old favorite.

No doubt like all of Freddie’s parties his “Dream Warriors” would be in attendance, along with “The Butcher”, I really hoped that “Godzilla” could make it, if he knocks of Tokyo in time. No doubt we would have another interminable bout of the “Antichrist Superstar”, as he holds court for all an sundry. He is so lame and such a bore.

As I was getting dressed, with the radio playing in the background, the newsman came on with a story about the “Murder of the Lawson Family”. I started to wonder who would be my plus one, maybe I could call that young woman, “Kim”, the “Knoxville Girl”. “Ohh, but “I Love the Dead”, I thought to myself adjusting my flesh mask and straightening my cape.

As I stepped out into the wonderful warm night air, with the “Bad Moon Rising” up there on the right. A night full of promise, I thought I would take a stroll down by the river, it was always nice to be “Down by the Water”, “where the wild roses grow”, as I moved up to the road, I saw a Taxi coming towards me it was a “97 Bonnie and Clyde”, a perfect way to arrive at the party. The Taxi stopped, and the driver “Stan”, asked me where I was going. I gave him the address and relaxed for the drive, there was some minor noise from the boot, but I paid it no mind.

As we drove along, I noticed one of my neighbours doing some late night gardening, “What’s he building”, I wondered. “Looks like another “Farmer in the City”. I checked my watch, only “25 minutes to go”, before the party started.

I arrived five minutes before the Witching Hour and was greeted by the “Hamburger Lady”, who was delightfully using a flame thrower on some young people. “Ahh “Asbestos Youth”, I thought.

It really will be an excellent “Birthday Party”.
