Don't Cry Over Spilled Wine
It’s 9 pm on a Friday and you are lying in the middle of your living room floor on the rug. The tv plays 90 Day Fiancé in the background and you are half-listening. When you raise your arm and upper back to sip your glass of wine, static ripples along the arm and neck of the flannel pyjamas that you are wearing. The last text message on your phone is from your best friend “Want to hang out tonight?”. You had responded “Sorry, rain check? I have plans tonight.” Lies. Unless plans to watch TLC with your cats counts.

Why You Should Embrace Minimalism
What is minimalism? Take a look at what you have around you at home. How much of it would you label as “junk” or “useless clutter”? Look at your items and ask yourself “does this have a purpose?” and “does having this make me happy?” More and more people are realizing that they have made a grave mistake: they have spent years overconsuming and now are dealing with the consequences of having too much… well, crap. Minimalism plans to fix that. The idea of minimalism is that you take all of those things in your home that do not bring you happiness and have no purpose and get rid of them. Even better, recycle or donate everything that you can for those that will find happiness or use of them. I hope this post will help you to decide what you can do to be a better minimalist.

What's the problem with palm oil?
The other day while surfing the web I came across a comment warning people about palm oil in their vegan food staple alternatives. I went to my fridge and checked a few of my dairy-free alternatives to find that sure enough, my Becel vegan margarine used 6% palm oil. I was glad to see that my other products were seemingly safe from the “palm oil travesties”, but it makes you wonder – what other ingredients in these products could be harmful to the environment and to human rights? These vegan products are seen as being healthier and safer alternatives, but after some research, I began to question “If it has palm oil in it, is it really better than its dairy equivalent?”.

Dirty Laundry
Shannon watches her reflection in the full-length mirror of the bleak changing room before her shift starts. The fluorescent lights shudder and make her look pale. She is wearing her blue work smock and her dark-brown, almost black, hair is tied up and covered by a hair net. Each day blurs into the next, much the same, day after day, again and again.
