Bad Movie Drinking Game - Elvis (2022)
Baz Luhrmann's latest film Elvis is, in some ways, not a bad movie at all. In other ways, it's completely incomprehensible. Approximately the first half is so overloaded with fanciful editing and all-over-the-map storytelling that it's often difficult to follow what is going on. However, it is also wildly entertaining. The latter half gets bogged down in a repetitive cycle of Elvis being depressed and getting taken advantage of by the big bad Tom Hanks. But even so, the film has enough personality that it's worth watching right to the end. Austin Butler's much-lauded performance as the music icon Elvis Presley is deserving of its praise, Tom Hanks' bizarre performance as the Colonel deserves its confused response.

Bad Movie Drinking Game: The Fantastic Beasts Trilogy
Whether you were into the Harry Potter series or not, I think most people can agree that the Fantastic Beasts trilogy has been a bit of a mess. No hate to anyone who loves these movies, but there's a reason they haven't reached anywhere near the same degree of success as Harry Potter, and it's not just because of J.K. Rowling's political views (although that certainly doesn't help).

Bad Movie Drinking Game - The Happening
The Happening, the 2008 film by infamous director M. Night Shyamalan, is a classic bad movie. There are tons of Youtube videos with millions of views tearing it apart, dissecting its nonsense, absurdity, and hilarity. If you've ever seen one of those videos and thought the movie looked funny but too stupid to actually sit down and watch for 90 minutes, here's a way to make the experience more fun. However, having now seen the movie myself, I will say that it's insane enough that it doesn't even need alcohol to enhance it. Although it's practically universally acknowledged as a bad movie, if you sincerely love this movie, or any of the movies I will ever describe as "bad," please know that badness is not an objective trait or even a negative quality. All movies can bring joy and are art.

Bad Movie Drinking Game - Cyrano (2022)
Ever since I saw the trailer for Cyrano back in October, I knew it would be a new classic bad movie. The trailer, which I would go on to see before every movie I saw in theatres for the next six months, is jam-packed with corny dialogue and lazy singing. It contains a conversation, which I have since memorized, that made me laugh so much that I knew, right away, that this movie was destined to be a bad movie drinking game. The conversation goes as follows, performed with breathy, posh British accents:

Bad Movie Drinking Game - Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
The 2017 action/sci-fi/romance/banter comedy Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is one of the most insane movies I've ever seen. It's one of those movies that's so all over the place, so over-the-top, that it makes you feel drunk even if you haven't had a drop of alcohol. But it's enhanced by actually having alcohol. As usual, if you sincerely love this movie, or any of the movies I will ever describe as "bad," please know that badness is not an objective trait or even a negative quality. All movies can bring joy and are art, and there's a special place in my heart for this one. It was one of the first my boyfriend and I watched as a drinking game, and along with the Percy Jackson movies, it proved the concept a complete success.

Bad Movie Drinking Game - Percy Jackson 1 & 2
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief was one of the first bad movie drinking games my boyfriend and I did together, and it remains one of the best ever. Its sequel, Sea of Monsters, was a close second. If you sincerely love this movie, or any of the movies I will ever describe as "bad," please know that badness is not an objective trait or even a negative quality. All movies can bring joy and are art.

Bad Movie Drinking Games: The Basics
I love bad movies, and haven't met one yet that wasn't improved by a drinking game. My boyfriend and I have a weekly ritual: every Friday night, we gather beers or ciders, snacks, and sit down to watch a couple of bad movies or episodes of a bad TV show. For every single one we make a new list of rules tailored to the movie, but we also have a stock list that applies to every piece of bad media. Here it is: drink every time you feel/observe-

An August Memory
The air was warm and wet. Lindsay felt like she could dissolve into it, baking and melting in the sun. When she first laid down in the grass it provided some cooling comfort, but as the heat from her body bled into the earth, the ground became just as warm as the air above it. A bead of sweat formed along her hairline and plummeted down her temple, getting caught in the folds of her ear. She pressed her palm to the ear, trying to disperse the droplet and ease the instant irritation it brought her.

Inside In Public
Like most sensitive teenage girls, I was a fan of Bo Burnham. I discovered him when I was about 16 years old, have followed his work ever since and have loved everything I've seen from him. I memorized the words to his Youtube songs, his Comedy Central Special, Words Words Words and his music videos. I even got ahold of Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous. His poetry book, what, Make Happy, and Eighth Grade have been extremely influential parts of my young adulthood. It's reasonable to say I've been obsessed with these things, especially Make Happy, but I believe it's been a healthy obsession. So, obviously, I was excited when I found out there was something new coming.
