Izzy: The Spoiled Pug
August 10th is National Spoil Your Dog Day. No dog is more spoiled than my little pug named Izzy. Izzy has many nicknames, such as Princess Puggy Butt and Lil’ Baby. As you can tell by her nicknames and photo, she is a full-bred Pug. Pugs have been a recognized breed of the American Kennel Club since 1885. They are well known for their short muzzles and little, wrinkled faces. They have short, stocky, cube-like bodies with well-developed muscles they choose to not use. Pugs are a low-maintenance breed, making them great for people with busy lives. Despite that, here are all the reasons Izzy couldn’t survive Doomsday.

Doomsday Reading Materials
August 9th is Book Lovers Day. It’s the unofficial holiday for bibliophiles (someone who loves books) to celebrate the joys of reading and fine literature. We encourage people on this day to put away their electrical devices to pick up a book or two. Currently, there are over 7,000 survival books and manuals on the market, with more being published every day. Some are all-purpose general survival guides, and some are specialized for a specific disaster or cause. These are just a few of my favorite picks I feel your home library should include.

More Bang For The Buck
These days, money can be tight for the average consumer. Inflation and shortages are at an all-time high with no sign of lowering anytime soon. The average household brings in $62,000 in income every year, giving them very little if any, wiggle room to invest in emergency preparedness. Most beginners quickly become overwhelmed with how to get started. They often quit before they get their toes wet. People are afraid to spend money on unnecessary goods out of fear of not being able to make ends meet at the end of the month. Here are some helpful tips that you can use to get the supplies you need to survive doomsday.

Just A Little Poke
Vaccines have been at the center of controversy for many years. A vaccine is a biological creation designed to prevent the spread of a life-threatening disease, such as polio or smallpox. Over the last couple of decades since their development vaccines have saved millions of lives, and 1.9 trillion dollars in global expenses. August is National Immunization Month. Despite the many negative reports, vaccines are hugely beneficial to our society.

Important Skills For The Apocalypse
Today, we live in a fast pace replaceable world. Nothing seems to last longer than a few days, but we as a society have grown accustomed to this. Why take care of things when we can replace them just as fast as we bought them? You can order just about anything you could think of online, and have it on your doorstep by nightfall the next day. Many people forget that this luxurious on-demand lifestyle could end in a blink of an eye. Here are some skills that’ll be useful in the apocalypse that many of us forgot how to do.

Useful Apocalyptic Careers
With many young people across the country completing their college plans and deciding on a major if you haven’t already by now, I figured this would be a good time to discuss those careers that would benefit society after a doomsday situation.

Every 30 Seconds
July 30th is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. Human Trafficking is a heinous crime where people are forcefully sold/traded to others for the purpose of manual labor, sexual slavery, or exploitation of any kind against that person’s will. No one is immune from being trafficked. Anyone of any age, gender, or race can be a victim. It violates human rights as a captor, or trafficker, restricts another person’s movements by force, coercion, and other violent means. During and a few days after a crisis will most likely be chaos, which results in many people trusting the wrong people with their safety.

Making A Speciality KitTop Story - July 2022
For some, rain can be quite relaxing. Nothing is more soothing than sitting on the porch, watching it come down like buckets while sipping your favorite hot beverage. Every year, 6.6 billion tons of precipitation fall from the sky every year. Nearly 1,800 storms are occurring at any moment around the world. The average size of a storm is a 15-mile radius, at the most, making it small and isolated. Storms often lead to multiple other disasters such as blackouts, flooding, mudslides, tornadoes, etc. Making a Rainy Day Box is a fun project to do with the family, so if, and when, you find yourself stuck at home because of the rain you’ll have something to do.

Embrace The Geek In You
Today is the beginning of Comic-Con weekend! Comic-Con is a national geek convention held in San Diego every year. It is a weekend-long event, embraced by thousands as a day of costume-wearing fun. In the beginning, a geek was a slang term for someone who has an eccentric personality. They often take part in activities that are non-mainstream and unfashionable in common society. Today, we look at a geek as an expert, or enthusiast, in a hobby based around an intellectual pursuit. So, their hobbies can be helpful in an apocalyptic setting.

When Snacks Attack
As I mentioned in my article How To Keep The Yummies For The Tummy, I suggested you stock up on snacks. Snacks are a great way to keep you fed between meals. They help provide you with quick bursts of energy when you need it most. Snacks can also come in handy if you cannot set up for breakfast, lunch, or dinner because you are traveling a great distance and can’t afford the time to stop. There are so many options for good snacks available to you. Which ones should you get? Well, here is my idea of the worse snacks to stock up on.

Surviving A Riot
It has been 58 years since the Harlem Riots of 1964, and things are still just as divided as it was back then. Riots have been around for years as a violent reaction to one group’s animosity towards another group of people for various reasons. It’s a form of civil disorder among disorganized groups of people displaying aggressive, chaotic behavior. The police arrested hundreds of people around the world each year for participating in some type of riot. Some people have even died in riots. Here are some tips to remember when your peaceful protest turns south quickly.
