Immigrant's Dream
The wooden wagon jostled as the wheels fell into and out of the ruts in the winding country road. Elek knew there was a field ahead where his horse Rosie could rest and graze for the night. His rounds to his normal towns were almost completed and he, too, was ready to rest.

Kidnapped
We drove up the snowy, winding road toward the cozy A-frame cabin. Still laughing at the directions from the rental agency, “count 19 bridges, turn right, pass a church with three crosses, turn left, next left and look for the sign ‘Falling Waters”, we were glad to arrive at the cabin. We continued to laugh when we realized that the namesake waterfall was frozen solid!

"You Make Me Feel Alive Again"
A couple of years of tap and ballet in grammar school. Dancing like all teenagers in the ‘50s at sock hops and proms. Married at 17 to a professional drummer (had a gig on our honeymoon!). Jazz dance lessons for a year at 19. Square dancing for three years at a rate of five nights a week until my second husband became a square dance caller. In my 40’s, taking Bellydance lessons when I was single and 30 lbs to dance off! For the first half of my life, this was the extent of dance and music in my life. Not good enough to perform professionally, but loving every minute. And, I did lose the 30 lbs!

Never Underestimate An Old Lady Who Rides a Motorcycle!
"We laid the motorcycle down!" I recall the horror I felt as I heard these words over the phone in Hawaii, thousands of miles away from my 70-year old Mom in Florida. After my initial shock, I hurriedly asked her if she was okay. "Yes, we were going down the street and something popped off the motorcycle. We circled around the block to see what it was, and we were going so slow that we fell over!" I did not know whether to laugh or cry!

My SECRET WEAPON at the Thrift Store
Once upon a time, a nuclear reactor broke down. The technicians had worked and worked to repair but finally called in an outside expert. The expert walked around the reactor, focused on a spot and, gave the reactor one swift kick. It started up, whirring and purring like normal. When the bill arrived, the technicians were shocked. It was for $15,000! The Head Tech phoned the expert and demanded an explanation. "All you did was kick it", he exclaimed. Slowly and confidently, the expert responded, "Ah, but you have to know WHERE to kick it!" The bill was paid promptly.

Daughter of a Dealer
Hello, my name is Linda and I am a hoarder. There I’ve said it. Hoarding is a way of life when you are born into a family of antique dealers. It takes roots very early as you can’t bear to see anything destroyed or thrown away. Your parents have taught you there is value to everything. My addiction is antiques.
