The Reality of Being a Female Nerd
The Geek community has been around for years. A community most popularized by the release of Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977. This community houses fans from all genres including video games, DC and Marvel, Disney, Star Wars, and several other franchises. There have been many changes to the community. The community that was originally laughed at and stereotyped to be the awkward, glasses wearing nerds has now become that majorly cool group you want to be a part of. Spawning multiple conventions across the world. Making names for popular gamers and cosplayers. It's a community that continues to grow. However, I think the biggest change has been the growing popularity of the female nerds.

The Reality of Living with Mental Illnesses
Mental illness can be classified as many things from anxiety all the way to serious psychological issues, and believe it or not most of the people you know probably suffer from mental health issues. It can affect their mood, how they work, and even their physical health. And guess what? There isn't a magic cure-all for it. In fact, it can only be maintained using proper methods or in serious cases, medication. I, myself, suffer from anxiety and depression and it is a constant war. The bad days are often triggered by life-changing events or devastating news. Ranting helps, herbal tea and music do too, but I will never be magically cured. That's the reality of it.

The War With the Monster
We all know that foggy feeling in our heads or the moment when everything seems to be rushing by so damn fast. That moment your heart quickens and your palms get all sweaty. That moment you start to have a panic attack. Panic attacks are just one symptom of anxiety. Anxiety is a monster who shows up uninvited and decides you are their new best friend. A monster that makes you feel crazy and scared but convinces you that they are all you have. A crippling feeling of fear and panic that hits out of nowhere. When you all of a sudden can't move, can't think, and your breath leaves you like an autumn leaf falling from a forgotten tree. How? How do we develop this feeling of hopelessness and fear? How does our mind turn on us and eventually leaves us hanging?

Soulmates?
In a society that capitalizes on hooking up, believing in the idea of soulmates can be quite difficult. Is there such thing as a soulmate? Is love at first sight just a farce? Questions we all ask ourselves during out single states, but when we meet that one person who makes our heart flutter, we start questioning if maybe our bitter ideas on love are wrong. Now, we might go through a few breakups, or maybe even quite a few, but the cycle is the same. A guy or girl makes our hearts flutter. That leads to dating and intimacy, and then you either end up happily ever after or you break up. That brings up the same bitter ideas on love...well that is until the next guy or girl comes along. The question remains: How will we know when we've met the one?

Social Anxiety or Introverted?
In a society that's all about being fun and spontaneous, it can be difficult having social anxiety or just being an introvert. These are two terms that are often mixed up together. The question is are they the same thing or are they similar but on different spectrums. I took the liberty to do a little research on the topic and to finally answer my own question. Social anxiety or Introvert? Is there a difference, and can you be an introvert with social anxiety?

Confessions of a Former Music Major
I played flute from sixth grade to my senior year and I loved it. I performed in a highly recognized band in my area. I have five All Regions under my belt and even got promoted to playing piccolo my junior year and flute section leader my senior year. I really thought being a musician was made for me and committed to studying instrumental education in college. That's where I made my first mistake.

What do we look for in the "perfect partner"? What do we search for? What defines the perfect relationship? All questions that orbit around the dating game. A game none of us are really great at playing. I've beaten plenty of games but the dating game always seems to be the hardest. We're all searching for our player 2.
