The Mythology of Welding
Welding is a myth. Not a lot of people know this, but it is true. The joining of two pieces of metal using only heat is physically impossible. I know this because in my adult life I have never been able to successfully make it work. And given that I am somewhat mechanically inclined, and possess above-average intelligence, I must conclude that it is impossible.

The Pod
Dale does not know what the next 17 years will hold for him, but in some cases, he knows exactly what will happen. He sits at his elegant dining room table, with a newly opened bottle of Beaujolais in front of him. Gleaming in the light of the chandelier is a shiny-black object, roughly the size, and shape of a rugby ball. He stares at it as he pours himself a glass of wine. He takes a drink and thinks back to an earlier time.

A Reluctant Leo
I have never much been one for horoscopes. I tend to be much more scientifically minded. When I look to the sky, it is not for the purpose of gaining insight to my personality, but rather to gain a peek at planets, comets, and Messier objects. I am also one of those who emits steam from their ears whenever someone says “astronomy” when they mean “astrology,” and vice versa.
