"Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks." - Plutarch
When we parted ways long ago I hated myself for letting you go But when we met years later For the first time in forever

I often wonder what it’s like To fall in love with someone Feel their touch as they hold your hand The gentle kiss on the forehead
It might have been longer than I thought But I never really cared about time Since you’re not here anymore It means nothing to me now
Sure, I can delete your photo Your text and your number But how do I delete your face Your voice and our memories?
I held your hand for a long time And you feel so warm as always But it didn’t last long As the years went by We grew distant
Winter came again this year It’s cold out but your hand keeps mine warm The grey scarf you’re wearing Was the one I gave you last year
The words hurt so much Even if they’re not said aloud A thousand reasons came to mind All of them begged me to leave you
Maybe one day I’ll forget the way You’d grin at me each morning Or how you’d say “I love you” every time How your voice sounds when you’re tired
There are times when I stay up late The nights when I think about you Wondering what could be, or what will be It may never began at all
I remember the times When I’d sit and stare at you And sometimes When I could draw the shapes Of your beautiful face
The sun is setting now Let’s go sit on a bench together And watch the sunrise Maybe wait a few hours or minutes Until the night sky comes
I know it was a long time ago When we drifted apart Before we went on our own paths We both made a promise to each other
