Love and Fear
Chapter 4 is linked here. Chapter 5: Love and Fear Maryanne became the youngest managing editor in Toronto, maybe even Canada, three months after signing the contract. It took another three months to set up the office and hire the right people before opening the doors to "Andrea Kelly Publishing House," which started full operation the week before Maryanne's twenty-fourth birthday.

Dinner with her friends
Chapter 4: Dinner with her friends Chapter 3 is linked here. When Robert entered the room the guy turned and looked at him for a few seconds, before smiling and walking to the door. At the door he stopped and turned to John, speaking softly in Chinese with what could be only described as malice in his eyes, before exiting the room. Robert didn’t understand what the guy said but, by the look in John’s eyes, he could see that it was obviously a threat of some kind.

The Mountain and the Factory
Chapter 3: The Mountain and the Factory Chapter 2 is linked here. At dinner that night at the Riverside restaurant, Robert got no answers about John's friend. Every time he brought it up, John would deflect the conversation to talking about the girl that Robert had met at the River Club. They had a delicious lobster dinner, with fresh vegetables and a bottle of wine, as they watched a young man and two women playing traditional Chinese instruments.

The Tower
The following is chapter 2 of the story, "There's One for All." Chapter 1 is linked here. Chapter 2; The Tower Robert, feeling nauseous and hung-over when he came down this morning, decided to sit in the open area restaurant and have a glass of orange juice while waiting for John. Their regular server, Lisa, wasn't there, so a male server Robert had not seen before approached him when he sat by the window. The man was wearing a name tag that read "Billy," obviously a western take on his real name. Billy asked him if he would like breakfast. Robert told him that he would have orange juice as he was waiting for his friend to arrive before eating. He tried calling John's cell phone, while Billy was gone to get his drink. When he returned, Robert was leaving a message for John; "Hey John, I'm downstairs at the restaurant" "I guess you're a little sick, I'm just going to have juice. I’ll wait for you before eating."

Frostbite
Engulfed in the midnight blizzard, I was nothing but another snowflake in the wind. The unrelenting cold enters every pore of my body. Even through three layers of clothing there’s no way to stop it. All I can do is keep moving and hope the exertion will slow down the inevitable long enough to find shelter from the storm. The screaming wind, howling in my face, turns the icy snow into shards of glass that could break through exposed skin, or thin clothing, like tiny bullets. Looking down at my shredded gloves, I can feel the throbbing cold in my fingertips and know it’s only a matter of time before frostbite sets in. I need to find shelter and I need to find it now.

There's One for AllTop Story - November 2023
Prologue; Struggling for several months to find proof the pictures that broke her heart were a lie, and needing the distraction, Robert jumped at the opportunity when offered the trip to China. He welcomed the attention to detail required to get the job done on time; as his mind would be full with their planned, unrealistic, work schedule, instead of the constant reminders of the pain he felt from losing the woman that had held his heart since they were teenagers.

Thanks Heather
This letter is for Heather Hubler's challenge which is linked below. Photo by Author Dear Heather; I hope all is well in your world. I know we haven’t spoken in a long time and I’m sorry for that. I just seem to have a lot going on in my life right now. We just celebrated my granddaughters ninth birthday on Sunday– after returning from a three-day trip to Quebec. What a great trip that was! My wife and I and four close friends stayed in an Airbnb chalet on Mont- Tremblant, which overlooked miles of rolling hills alive with fall colours. The breathtaking beauty of this place, situated in the heart of the Laurentian Mountains, is truly inspiring. It would be the perfect place for a writer to unwind and become one with nature. There are several small French villages in the area that are filled with tiny shops and wonderful people and I would find it difficult to believe that any writer couldn’t find inspiration on those cobblestone streets. It was almost like traveling back in time– back to a time when life was much simpler and free from modern day worries.

A Little Death
The following is for the “Filthy Haiku Challenge” from Jazzy Goncalves The challenge is to write a filthy, sexy Haiku. In other words lets take a trip to a steamy bedroom or bathroom or even Igloo or mile high bathroom even though I've never understood how that airplane one works. I can see a very uncomfortable cramp appearing there causing a very embarrassing moment for the couple involved. Or maybe if you're alone it would work!!
