Scam
Scammers, somehow, have unlimited source of creativity - that even I envy, it would possibly make me a better writer. Fake data, stolen images, shady details, whatever it is they may use or do, they always make it look authentic. I have seen scams before but the amount of effort that was put into this one was something else.

The Child Within
There I was. Lying next to an unidentifiable vehicle because I chose a different route to get home. All I remembered was the tapping of water droplets doing jigs to the tackiest music of the 21st century on my window screen before my car went through the ramp near the forest. I also recalled the nastiest fight me and Joe had before work that morning but I wasn’t going to face that dilemma yet.

The strange yellow rose
The end was close. The air was crispy and fresh while the last days of the Indian summer kissed goodbye to us with its remaining warm rays. I was hanging out with three of my mates, messing about as usual, playing some rounds of cards before heading off to home. Not so long a familiar face greeted us that we had not seen for a long while. It was Sam.

The Grinning Beast
It’s dark. It is bedtime for little Teddy. His mother was already asleep while she tried comforting him. Teddy is still wide awake and scared of the grinning beast. It always waits outside under his window during sunset. When night falls it slowly pops its head from its hiding place while it stares at him with wide glowing eyes, flashing its razor sharp teeth before he goes to sleep. It is not clear where it comes from or what it is, but it is crystal clear that it wants something. A deal that should not have been made; according to mum, that was. It first starts staring through the window. Teddy hears the foul whispers muttering "I always win" before drifting off to sleep. When he finally awakes from his snooze the beast already sits on the window sill.

The unexpected notebook
I have lived a simple life. Simple but flavoured by misery; I was once a successful business owner, and never had to go without, now living in a ridiculously small flat on the second floor with my partner. My partner, Louise and I struggled to make the ends meet after I hit rock bottom. I always wished to make things easier for her, she was always sweet to me. I cried and prayed on my lonely nights, wishing for a miracle that would get us out of this distress. On a gloomy day when the sun tore its misty veil, everything changed like a flick of a switch. Louise was working at the hospital at that time; a mysterious package arrived with no return address. I anxiously chose to open it. There was a hand written letter, a small black notebook, sim cards and an old phone, neatly tucked into the padded envelope. I unfolded the letter, as gently as I could, to feed my curiosity. To my biggest surprise, a check of $20000 fell out. My grin reached ear to ear; I was over the moon, finally I could be useful in something, but I had my suspicions so I decided to read the unknown letter.
