Black Wings
Kayse returned to the house, feeling a little flustered. Going upstairs to the bathroom, she rinsed her face with cold water. She paused looking back at her reflection, her hazel eyes searching themselves for ideas or answers. For some reason, she suddenly remembered what Wilhelmina had said about laying items out on Uncle Kalvin’s bed. Determined, she dried her hands and headed down the hall to the far back bedroom.

Black Wings
*Author's note: I am working on this for NaNoWrimo. I'm attempting to get as much written as I can. I feel behind early in the month. I'm posting sections as I find myself taking a long pause. Some of the breaks are a little rough. I'm hoping I'll at least have most of this finished by the end of the month, I plan to submit it to a producer as a potential movie. I'd really appreciate critiques regarding the story line flow and character developement. Thank you for reading <3)

Black Wings
The thick, humid air vibrated with the sound of cicadas around the stagnant little pond. Two older gentlemen sat in lawn chairs near the bank, fishing poles in their hands and a cooler between them. Neither spoke a word. They simply sat and sipped on beer, occasionally reeling in their lines and recasting.

First of Her Kind Part 8
In the following weeks, Adam spent much of her time with Lucian. He was curious about everything. Given the opportunity, he would have dismantled every piece of equipment, furniture or technology in the house just to see how it was put together. And, more impressively, he could put things back together with ease and recreate the process from raw materials. Apparently his “hobby of the month” as Jessie called it was woodworking. A shop had been built on the grounds for him and he was in the middle of constructing a wood table without using any metal hardware. The top with its geometric star pattern and the ornate legs were inlaid with lighter colored wood. Emily joked that when he was finished, they could sell the table and fund the house for a whole month. Every once in a while, Dr. Sheridan would take Lucian to the lab and Adam would take the opportunity to seek out Evander. If he wasn’t in the back of the lab, which Adam still wasn’t sure what that meant, he was usually watching TV in his room or in the rec room working out. Adam worked out with him, sometimes in absolute silence. More and more frequently though, he began to talk to her, encouraging her to ask questions about his life in the house and teaching her how to properly use the equipment. On a couple occasions, he even joined Adam in the living area to watch movies. She noticed that Emily and Jessie took a great deal of notice, particularly when he stopped sitting in one of the two recliners and joined Adam on the couch.

First of Her Kind Part 7
A tap on the door drew Adam out of sleep. She cast a glance at her alarm clock. A couple hours had passed. Another tap at the door drew her scrambling from her bed. She straightened her clothes as she went to the door and cracked it open. Emily stood at the door.

First of Her Kind part 6
The kitchen buzzed with morning activity. Benjamin stood at the stove preparing breakfast while Lucian impatiently searched the fridge for something to tide him over. Emily and Jessie chatted over cups of coffee at the dining room table and Dr. Sheridan leaned against the counter, lazily sipping on his own mug while reading something on the tablet in his hand.

The First of Her Kind part 3
Adam sat on the edge of the bed in the modification room holding out her arm as Jessie carefully extracted a blood sample. Dr. Sheridan seemed lost in thought, his piercing green eyes fixated on her. Jessie rolled across to a small fridge and placed the blood vials inside.
