The Hesitations of Sebastian Walker
This isn't for Julian's benefit. He can do his little history project, I'm not going to be part of it. I'm only writing this because Aadhi is on my ass about it. Since he sent his email, he won't shut up about how liberating that was and how he feels better now and blah blah blah. He might be my best friend, but I honestly don’t understand him sometimes.

How I Review Books
Many book reviewers use the five-star system to quickly let their viewers and readers decide whether a book is worth their time. However, I find it difficult to evaluate a book in numbers and fractions. It feels too cold and distant. There are books I dislike that are deemed classics (looking at you, Catcher in the Rye), and books that I love that aren’t well-written or consistent (the Harry Potter series). This is because stories aren’t written to be so easily measured, and good taste, no matter what some people say, is never objective.

The Whispers of Jane Doe
Dear Julian, I feel like I should apologize for passing on that cursed thing to you, though I guess you’re just as skeptical as Jessie and the mere mention of the word “curse” has made you roll your eyes. Honestly, I wish I could share your skepticism at times.

The Trinket of Poppy Field
Dear Julian, How strange it is to write this by hand. I planned on just sending an email once the package arrived, but this seemed more fitting. Who knows? Maybe it’ll be a cool detail for your book. Should I have sealed this with wax and stained the paper with tea to give it more of a “haunted house” feel? Perhaps you can embellish the story when you tell it.

Can I Identify As a Different Age?
Every few years, the Right chooses a new scapegoat to blame for all of the world’s problems. It prevents them from actually having to do any real work and come up with policies or content that is relevant to their voters and audience. Outrage motivates people like critical thinking never will.

How to Read More According to Booktok
If you’re anything like me, you’re a bit of a paradox: you love to read, yet you don’t read much. Maybe books were your way of escaping to a better world as a child, but now, as an adult with a boring job and an uninspiring routine, you look for easier, more accessible ways to leave reality behind. Stories are my favorite thing in the world, and books one of my favorite ways of consuming them. However, I’d be lying if I didn’t say social media and streaming services get the most of my free time.

The Hate of Marigold Moore
Hey, Julian, did Sarah email you yet? You know, about her “sighting” of Dreary Maggie? I swear, that’s her entire personality. Chris used to complain about it all the time when we were in school. Their dad was gone - good riddance! - and his little sister wouldn’t stop making it all about herself.

The Vanishing of Thomas Walker
Julian! Or… should I address you as Mister Mayor? I hope you’re not too important for your friends. We haven’t talked in five years, so there’s so much to catch up on! I’m very sorry to hear about Eleanor. She was one of my best friends and she’ll be dearly missed. How’s Lily? Sebastian told me she’s acting out for attention, but I guess that’s normal. Goodness, she must be thirteen by now. My oldest just turned seven. Time really flies, eh?

Nervous Energy
If you’re thinking of starting on anti-depressants to improve your mental health, you should be aware that they’re accompanied by a long list of side effects. I’m proud to say I researched them thoroughly before talking to my psychiatrist and that I felt ready for anything. I was expecting the headaches, the weight gain, and the nausea, and my doctor warned me to keep a close eye on how the pills affected my mood because, according to her, “feeling sad might be bad, but feeling nothing at all is worse.”

SPOILERS FOR THE LOKI SERIES UP TO EPISODE 4! Just a few weeks ago, I wrote an article about searching for queer representation while I was growing up and how difficult it was to find LGBTQA+ characters to look up to. I added some examples, both good and bad, but there was someone that didn’t make the cut because their story was too complex to be restricted to a passing mention. Now, with the Loki series only two episodes from ending, I think it’s time to talk about them.
