So... I saw Avi Kaplan in NYC
Hi long time no see! Quick update since a lot happened in the last year. I now have a new service dog since the first one retired, went on a podcast, decided to create my own and I'm now in the works of having an appointment with a psychiatrist. All of these are for another time today I want to talk about the most recent event. I drove all the way to New York City to see my favourite singer Avi Kaplan.

Self diagnosis
Before I start, I just want to say that this is my opinion as an autistic woman that struggles with mental illness. Some people that have professional diagnosis might disagree with me which is completely fine but this is an important subject and I want to give out the informations. I do invalidate self diagnosis but I still do not recommend it.

Service dogs part 2
The community of service dogs started quite small but expanded over the last few years. I would say it started when people truly noticed the benefit of animals towards certain type of people. We always see how much your quality of life drastically changes when you have an animal. Their instincts are so strong they can sense when you're not feeling well right away. There are so many types of service dogs nowadays but still, not everyone can have them.

Biphobia
Let's start with direct facts. Biphobia is not as new as we think. It comes in so many forms which can sometimes make it difficult to spot right at the moment. It is said that (this fact may be outdated) that the calls about biphobia in the helplines for the LGBTQ+ community are increasing. It can be as direct as insults or as subtle as small but still hurtful comments.

Different types of discrimination I've encountered
It is no secret that society has problems with inclusivity. Those problems go way back from centuries and it shows how the human species might never be ready to change. Whether it'sexism, racism, homophobia or any type of discrimination that exists, the province of Quebec in Canada is no different from everywhere else. The prime minister, which should be the one to force changes, refuses to acknowledge that discrimination exists. I fully recognise that I can't be able to talk about certain things because I have the chance and privilege to not live them.

Service dogs part 1
Ever since the first service dogs appeared, the access issues became bigger and have changed their form. It is very important to know that the only places that can deny the access of these dogs are surgery rooms and ambulances. These places can deny it only because of security and hygiene. As for all the others: Grocery stores, restaurants, shopping mall, etc. they all have the obligation to accept that the disabled person can come with a service dogs.
