Introduction
I am not sure how to approach this. Guy Peellaert was an amazing artist who created iconic fantasy images of famous people, usually musicians or politicians, as well as creating commissioned album covers such as "It's Only Rock'n'Roll" by The Rolling Stones and David Bowie's "Diamond Dogs" which you can read more about below.
I first came across his work in "Rock Dreams" and I have four or five of is books but they are very expensive to buy now, even if you can track them down.
I was not sure which piece to take for this story, but the cover of "Rock Dreams" featuring Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Bob Dylans, Mick Jagger and David Bowie in an American diner got me thinking about what they would be talking about and how would that conversation go?
So maybe some chat fiction about the rock stars in the diner watching the final mushroom cloud and awaiting their fate, and included in the chat will be some of their songs for you to think of.
I am not sure how this will be taken because I have spent a lot on my background and the actual story is quite short, but it is all about and inspired by the painting.
Watching The End Of The World From The Diner
Elvis: "Thanks for the Latte John, so they finally did it, fucking idiots, we really are in Heartbreak Hotel now, though this was Always On My Mind"
John: "I never Imagined it would come to this, but probably the survivalists will be wetting their pants now that they can spend five years in their underground holes. They've been waiting for this and the Governments have given it to them on a plate. I'm just sad that I'm not with Sean and Yoko"
Bob: "The Masters of War got their way, they made their bombs and sold them to the faceless ones behind the desks, now A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall isn't it? At least I got some coffee"
Mick: "It's obvious they are not on the side of the human race, they just wanted the money from their arms deals. They just had Sympathy For The Devil, not humanity. I don't know why God let them have their way on this.
David: "I thought if this had happened we'd have had Five Years not just fifteen minutes. I thought we would have Time to spend the end with the ones that we love."
Elvis: "You can see it coming, I'm feeling All Shook Up about this, if we thought we could get out then It's Now Or Never but I think from what's coming it's gonna be never"
John: "I always hoped they'd Gimme Some Truth but they were always full of lies while they lined their own pockets, but now all that Money is going to burn with them"
Bob: *I always hoped we could find some Shelter From The Storm, but this glass-fronted diner is going to give us none at all when this Idiot Wind hits and leaves this place looking like Desolation Row, but at least we got coffee"
Mick: "Come On guys, we have had a good run but I really can't see any way out of this. let's get another coffee. We'd be Fool's To Cry cos lets face it we are soon going to be very Hot Stuff"
David: "I never thought that I could feel such Sorrow, I cannot believe that they went and pressed the buttons and whoever did this really was The Man Who Sold The World and turned everything into just Ashes For Ashes"

Lol- this took me back to our group challenge of creating content with song titles. But done as inspired by an art piece- that's a different level of complexity- and you nailed it.

Thought-provoking, inventive & sobering, all at the same time (which is good, because they've little time left).
Interesting, BRaVo!
