The Midnight Fairy Garden

Where fairies dance and sprinkle magic on the world

By Novel AllenPublished 12 months ago 3 min read

Have you ever wandered into your garden at midnight

And from the corner of your eye, see little people dancing and

Frolicking betwixt the magic of moonlight's supernatural glow

Peripherally speaking, it might just be your imagination

But I see them there, sprinkling fairy dust upon our dreamsleep world

They flit and sit, dance and sing, they speak to me of

Silent words which echo within our slumbering hearts

Wanderers are we all, they whisper softly to my soul

Trapped between the shadow and the light

Just tiny fairies dancing within hearts of transparent leaves

Translucent little people darting to and fro, happy and content

Helping to make life a bit brighter when we awake at early morn

If you think that tis just my imagination, I assure you tis true

I caught a few in a bottle you see

Just so you would be impressed by me

Could I perchance interest you in a quick peek, for

When midnight's chime sounds, I must reluctantly set them free again

For here within the bewitching garden one doth not ignore midnight's call

These the musical fairies be, who make music to soothe our troubled sleep

I could keep them embottled forever, for the sake of soothing sleep

But surely t'would be horrid to place such a cruel fate upon kind fairies~

Beneath the lower trees the witching fairies plan and plot to take over

To change the world to suit their selfish, conniving lot

I sure hope that I can make them see, that

We need their help to fix our broken wishes and horrible dreams

Perhaps, perhaps. Is all they have to say

I wonder if they will reconsider, and help to save us from ourselves

If not, I fear, we will end up with just another question sign

A question forever being asked

In a jaded world in dire need of fairy dust, mixed in with

A dash of hope when comes the witching midnight hour!

Lovely Amazonia drops by from time to time, she sits silently by, just waiting and watching, for what I cannot tell. Then she leaves in a perfumed puff of soothing wind, saying naught and not a word.

Perhaps some calm midnight night, her purposed plan she shall reveal, for maybe there within Amazon's secret walls, some free spirited warrior women must now be dancing free, and being thankfully happy for midnight's musical calming balm.~

Sometimes the fairy Alladin drops by with his tiny dancing troupe and perform the most marvellous of Indian dances, while they play the tiny sitar most tunefully. The garden comes alive with the tiny sounds of tinkling music, flowing like drops of water from a fountain or a wishing well.

I clap along and dance a merry jig, its midnight and all is well!

There are times when they just stage a fashion show. I sit upon the cool stone bench and watch fairies strut their stuff while having a wonderful time. They conjure up the most amazing apparel, one would so expect fairies to be so fashionably and beautifully attired

But best of all, I like when they sit and speak with me a while, spinning tales of many beliefs of their existence by people everywhere.

Did you know that a group of fairies is called a “spark".

The label of fairy has at times applied only to specific magical creatures with human appearance, magical powers, and a penchant for trickery. At other times it has been used to describe any magical creature, such as goblins and gnomes. Fairy has at times been used as an adjective, with a meaning equivalent to "enchanted" or "magical". It is also used as a name for the place these beings come from, the land of the Fairy.

A recurring motif of legends about fairies is the need to ward off fairies using protective charms. Common examples of such charms include church bells, wearing clothing inside out, four-leaf clover, and food. Fairies were also sometimes thought to haunt specific locations, and to lead travelers astray using will-o'-the-wisps.

Etymology

The English fairy derives from the Early Modern English faerie, meaning 'realm of the fays'. In Old French romance, a faie or fee was a woman skilled in magic, and who knew the power and virtue of words, of stones, and of herbs.

Fairy was used to represent: an illusion or enchantment; the land of the Faes; collectively the inhabitants thereof; an individual such as a fairy knight.

Every night at midnight the fairies come out to play.

Remember to visit your garden tonight at midnight, the fairies will be awaiting you with gentle curiosity and soft music to soothe your soul.
