2024: Officially, the Year of the Unofficial
A little over a year ago, I began writing on Vocal. I had an existing account from the time a former teacher of mine posted a few stories. I didn't give it much thought beyond that. I write, but just sometimes, and usually just for fun, and usually to enter friendly competitions. It was rare for me to share my writing with "IRL" (in-real-life) friends and family. My writing felt private, or at least it wanted to stay private until I knew it was "good enough."

Rudderless No More. Top Story - January 2024.
I am in my favorite position. I am sitting up in my queen-sized bed, legs straight out in front of me, my back against the cushioned bookcase headboard, big snowflakes falling wet and heavy against my windowpane, and my fingers stretched over my laptop keys. The music of wind and pelting snow feels right, so I leave off my Vince Guaraldi Trio favorites for now.

My Writing in 2024
Challenge: Write about your aspirations, as a creator, on Vocal in 2024. The same New Years resolution board is up in my office from 2022. I just added 2023 to it and this year I was thinking of putting a piece of blue duck tape over those dates, writing 2024, and changing just a few things. I write for challenges never expecting to win or place.

My Vocal Aspirations
With the new year looming ahead, I have resolved to make a few changes this year, especially when it comes to my writing. I admit I did write a decent amount last year, and I even finally got my book, Of Demons and Deception, published on Amazon! However, I know I could have written more, especially here on Vocal, if I just applied myself better. So my first goal is to publish something on Vocal at least once a week. Whether it would be a submission to a challenge or just a small poem, I plan to become a more frequent and consistent writer here on Vocal, if not in general.

The Voice of Social reform- Intersectionality of Art and Culture. Art in its true essence is the reflection of man's truest desires and his perception of life. The abstract portrayal of his innate compass of emotions unleashes his greatest creations. The expression of self pours itself in the form of sculptures, portraits, drawings, music, graffiti, poetry, and writings. The exemplar of the beauty of nature lies in the creativity dwelling its abode in the creator's mind that captures its essence one masterpiece at a time.
