How I Use My Benable Profile to Showcase My Vocal Stories
There's no denying, life is hard, and if you know what I know, you'll be smart enough to take advice from those who have gone before us, and people who have walked in our shoes (or at least traveled the same path).

Another Mask for the Dead. Runner-Up in The Posthumous Author Challenge.
Dichotomy or duality. Maybe they're just fancy words for indecisiveness and destabilisation. Just as subversion and iconoclasm are fancy words for an unsettled mind that wouldn't stick to one lane. A critic of lesser vocabulary, or the gall to speak ill of the dead, might simply distil all of the above to: asshole terrible.

I Write to Outlive the Version of Me Who Almost Didn't
The first time I almost stopped writing, I was twelve and my mother found the notebook. It was a spiral-bound thing, the cover soft with use, pages crammed with poems I wrote in the margins of math classes, during the silences after dinner, in the twenty minutes before sleep when the dark felt safe enough to be honest. I had hidden it under my mattress because that was where important things went in the stories I read—treasure maps, diaries, the evidence of selves too fragile for daylight.

Mid June 2026: 9 Goals Accomplished
It's midway through June and I accomplished another one of my writing goals. This is goal that feels to me like it is becoming a new yearly ritual. That might be because I had the passing thought of, "Hey, maybe this should be a new yearly ritual." I always have different types of stories I set out to write, and because I have begun to enjoy writing horror stories and I have seen some success with them, I got the idea that I should write at least one horror story each year. I did it in 2025. So, as you can see, the third box that is now checked, Write 1st Draft of Horror Short Story. I did it for 2026 too.

Goose and the Golden Egg
Goose and the Golden Egg We have all seen them. The magical emails draw in the hopeful writer, desperate to make something, anything, from their work. The lure and promise of $50-$100 per piece accepted for publication. The hopeful possibilities of making a couple of grand a month from their writing. Anything from data entry to essay submissions is needed by many entities, and you are in a prime position to earn that income, after all, the writer just did. In fact, the writer makes a couple of thousand a month, maybe more, even while they sleep. What they don’t tell you is how long it took them to reach that income. They don’t cite their own stories or poetry in those publications either, so you can’t verify those claims.

Three Coins in the Fountain
You’ve made up your mind. You are going for it! You want to become a writer. Now, where do you go from there? There is the old-school way: libraries, reference books, or published how-to books. I have tried that. It’s butt-numbing, like doing research for a term paper. Now, lucky us, we have the internet and devices that ensure you do not have to break a sweat finding a place for your writing. This is where I come in today.
