Don’t Insult The Things You Wish You Could Have
Don't denigrate the things you hope to possess Oliver was a boy who once lived in a little village encircled by hills and woods. Not only was he witty, but he was also known to make fun of stuff he couldn't afford. Frequently, his pals would caution him, saying, "Don't make fun of the things you wish you could have."

Past Year and Future Intentions
This past year on Vocal, I have seen my true creativity. In 2023 alone, I wrote 16 stories. In total, I have written 58. I’m the type of writer that gets a feeling and I take it and run with it. I had a lot of emotions and thoughts running through my mind in 2023 and I went straight to Microsoft Word and just started typing.

What's on the Other Side?
I thought I closed out 2023 with a villanelle about writing with the Vocal community. Then I thought, why not write some thoughts about going forward on Vocal in 2024? So I did that. Then, Vocal posted a challenge about doing what I had just done. So, here I am, getting ready to do that stuff again. And I'm okay with it. I hope you will be, too and I promise to add some new, hopefully interesting, stuff.

Week Two of Write a Story Every Day in 2024
Week Two. 14 stories. Each of them microfiction of less than 366 words. All of them different. And so tomorrow heralds the start of Week Three and I am still in the marathon. Maybe with a blister or two and a dry throat but I'm there and I'm fighting.

Reflections of Everhaven: The Enchanted Mirror Chronicles
In the heart of Everhaven, where the gentle murmur of the Enchanted River blended seamlessly with the rustling leaves of the ancient trees, a small antique shop known as "Whimsical Treasures" held an extraordinary secret. Within its quaint interior, amid the eclectic assortment of artifacts and curiosities, stood an ornate mirror with an elaborate golden frame—a portal to a realm where the boundaries between reality and fantasy blurred. Amelia, a young artist with an insatiable curiosity and dreams that reached beyond the town's horizon, discovered the mirror during one of her frequent visits to Whimsical Treasures. Drawn to its craftsmanship, she decided to bring the mirror to her studio, unaware of the magical journey awaiting her. It was a quiet evening when Amelia, alone in her studio, decided to gaze into the mirror. As she peered into its reflective surface, a subtle shimmer transformed the room around her. The studio melted away, replaced by a lush, enchanted forest. Trees stood tall with leaves that sparkled like emeralds, and mystical creatures flitted through the air, leaving trails of iridescence in their wake. Amelia found herself standing in a world where imagination ran wild, and creativity was a living force. The enchanted forest became her muse, inspiring paintings that seemed to capture the very essence of the magical realm within the mirror. News of the mirror's enchantments spread like wildfire throughout Everhaven. The townsfolk, captivated by tales of the mirror's wonders, began to explore the fantastical realm within its reflection. Each person experienced a unique adventure tailored to their deepest desires and aspirations. However, the mirror's magic proved to be a double-edged sword. As the townsfolk delved deeper into the enchanted realm, they discovered that their actions within it had consequences in the real world. Choices made in the mirror's reflection echoed into their daily lives, bringing both joy and unforeseen complications. Amelia, now a central figure in Everhaven's newfound magical tales, realized the need for balance. The mirror, while a source of inspiration, also had the power to disrupt the harmony of their lives. She gathered a diverse group of individuals who had ventured through the mirror, and together, they formed the "Harmony Seekers." The Harmony Seekers faced challenges that tested their unity and resolve. Mystical beings guarded hidden realms within the enchanted forest, and riddles needed solving to unlock the mirror's secrets. As they navigated the complexities of the mirror's magic, they forged deep connections with one another, realizing that the strength of their bonds was the key to navigating the enchantments. Unbeknownst to the Harmony Seekers, a shadowy figure named Eldritch, drawn by the mirror's power, sought to exploit its magic for personal gain. Eldritch's dark reflections within the mirror threatened to overshadow the vibrant tales of Everhaven, casting a shadow on both the real and enchanted worlds. In a climactic confrontation, the Harmony Seekers stood against Eldritch, armed with the strength of their bonds and the lessons learned from the mirror's reflections. Through a collective act of creativity and unity, they managed to seal Eldritch within the mirror, restoring balance to Everhaven. As the town basked in the newfound harmony, the mirror, now a revered artifact, continued to offer glimpses into the enchanted realm. Everhaven embraced the magical reflections, using them as a source of inspiration and a reminder that, sometimes, the most extraordinary adventures begin with a simple reflection in a magical mirror.
