WATER

“Have you drank water?” The one question your mother, father or anyone who cared, seem to resound in your ears as sleep took its vacation from your eyes , or after a delicious meal, or even after a complaint of a slight tummy upset. It was the one answer to any physical turmoil that upset you. Ironic how the answer is a question, yes? It baffles me to, haha!

It is such an acclaimed question that has exhibited an important role in our lives, instilling a disciplined pattern that drives us to carry out the action without any supervision or reminder. Have you ever come to ask yourself why? Why drink water almost all the time? Why drink it like it would give me superman-like powers in the next few minutes? Why?

Water, asides being a colorless, transparent and inodorous liquid that forms the seas, rivers, and rain and being the basis of the fluids of living organisms, its volatility and versatility reflects the journey of self-development in great ways. Drinking water, a very simple, yet, a very essential and important act, holds earnest imputation for self-development. It’s funny how I would always tell my friends to consider for a moment the significance innate in the everyday ritual. Nonetheless, let’s dive into why drinking water is so important, shall we? (Dive.....get it? haha)

Firstly, hydration is fundamental to the physical welfare. Just as water nourishes our bodies, self-development requires nurturing our physical selves too. If you didn't know, a healthy body provides the foundation upon which personal growth can flourish, therefore by prioritizing hydration, we only acknowledge the importance of self-care and lay the bedrock for a vibrant and energized aura.

Let me ask you, have you ever perceived some sort of sensation subsequent to drinking water after a busy day? The act of drinking water prompts mindfulness, allowing an electrifying moment of pause in our busy lives. In that brief intermission, we have the opportunity to reconnect with ourselves, tuning into our body’s needs. This mindfulness extends way beyond the act itself, encouraging us to approach life with greater awareness, will or desire. Through this practice, we cultivate the habit of living in the present moment, which I think is a cornerstone of personal growth.

Furthermore, I can proudly say water serves as a symbol of purification and renewal. If you happen to study your bible, you would recall in John 3:5, Jesus speaks to Nicodemus about the concept of being "born again" or "born anew," emphasizing the importance of spiritual purification symbolized by water. “I am telling you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.” Just as water cleanses the body, self-progress involves ejecting ourselves of negative influences or energies and limiting beliefs. With each sip of water, we metaphorically cleanse our internal scenery, releasing toxins that tend to affect us. In this ritual of purification, we create space for growth, inviting in new perspectives, opportunities and possibilities.

I would also emphasize that drinking water encourage discipline and consistency, which are very important qualities for personal development as you are well aware. It requires commitment and will to prioritize hydration throughout the day, even when other distractions knock on your door. In the same light, self-improvement demands dedication and perseverance, a willingness to show up for ourselves every single day no matter what. By honoring commitment to hydration, I believe one can cultivate the resilience and discipline needed to pursue one's goals with unaltered determination, even if it is a small task compared to self-development in the long run. I mean the little things matter too, don’t they?

In essence, drinking water is far more than a physical prerequisite; it is more of a practice laden with significance for self-development and progress. Through hydration, we nourish not only our bodies but also our minds and spirits, tuning awareness, purification, discipline, and a beautiful connection to the rhythms of life.

So.... I'd say this to you today, let us raise our, bottles, cups, glasses or even our sachets of water wherever we are- not just in toast to our health, but in celebration of the endless possibilities for growth and transformation that lie within each and every one of us.
