Keeping Our Vocal Stories Readable And Presentable

Introduction

I regard my Vocal Stories as a library or reference source, and I often go back to read stories or get ideas, and given that I have over three and a half thousand stories, I often find things, especially poetry that I shock myself with how good they are.

Keeping Things Things Right

One of the brilliant things about posting on Vocal is that the stories can contain multi-media, so as well as the words, we can have pictures, audio links from places like Bandcamp and Soundcloud and video from YouTube and Vevo, as well as other Vocal stories.

While this is excellent, and one of the major Vocal plus points problems occur when these links disappear. It happens when I have shared other creators stories and the creator eithe removes the story or changes the title (the title is used to make the URL of the story so changing it, even slightly, will invalidate and links to it).

The same happens with video links and what happens is your story just has an unusable grey image, which looks particularly rubish if you have used it for the lead image to the story. I noticed this recently with this story, so I replaced it with an image:

Johnny Vedmore does not check his previous work I assume, although his last Vocal publication was ten months ago.

The thing is, if someone finds a story of mine, I want it to be perfect for the reader. The links and videos must always work, and hopefully my words ore worth the time of the reader.

Today I have shared one old story and, including this, will publish three pieces. The other two may both be poetry, but we shall see.

Conclusion

Maybe I am just one of the few who realises they have a Vocal back catalogue and take some pride in it. I do have the odd story that maybe could be repurposed, but I am proud of most of my work, and I want it to be perfect forever.
