So, you need to be more inspired and figure out what to write. But you need to figure out what to write or do to start writing again. So, how do you get back into the creative groove so that you can pen that masterpiece?

A few people asked me what I did to get that spark, that feeling of creativity, that inspiration back. I tell them all the same thing that I will share with you here in this article.

Here are my top ten ideas to help you get started.

  1. Go for a walk - Take a walk. Somewhere. Anywhere. Look around at nature. Get inspired by the fauna and flora around you. Pay attention to the sun, the moon, and the stars. Practice describing them in your mind.
  2. Exercise - Do some calisthenics, aerobics, or just dance. Get moving. Shake your booty. Get your blood pumping. Get the blood to transport oxygen to the brain, and the brain synapses to fire. Go to the gym, or stay home. It does not matter where you exercise; just exercise.
  3. Read - Read a book or magazine. Read a newspaper or cereal box. Read something on Kindle. Open up Vocal and read something. Just read anything at all. Get inspired by other writers' creativity.
  4. Go for a drive - Drive somewhere. See the sunset over the water. Drive to a National Forest and walk around. Drive just to drive and to see the sights. Drive around town, looking for the older houses. Try to describe what you see.
  5. Call someone - Call your mom. Call your dad. Or just call your brother or sister. Or a best friend you have you would like to call. You would be surprised how much talking about everyday things can inspire you.
  6. Watch a show - Either watch a TV series or a movie. It does not matter which. It does not matter if it is a re-run or a new creation; just watch something and get inspired by someone else's imagination.
  7. Go to a public place - Visit a zoo and see the animals. Visit your favorites, watch them for a while, and then try to describe what you see in your mind. Or just go to a museum, either of natural history or the arts. It does not matter which one. You will know what will inspire you once you see it.
  8. Play a game - Whether it is a physical game or an online game, it does not matter. Just play something. Play a game of solitaire, a console, or a computer game. Just relax and have some fun. Having fun is always a great way to get the creative juices flowing, and it helps you forget for a moment that you have writer’s block.
  9. Learn something new - Whether it is a recipe you want to try or a watercolor class you wish to take. Learning new things is an excellent way to keep your mind flexible and inspired.
  10. Take a nap - Just. Take. A. Nap. Allow your subconscious to relax and give up its secrets. You would be surprised how much rest will help the creative process and by how much our mind is holding back from us.

These are just my top ten things to do to help inspire me to write when I am feeling uninspired. Now, everyone’s different, and some items may not work as well for others as they do for me. But everyone should be able to find one thing on this list that helps them get that spark back.

If this list does not help you, I hope this article inspires you to go out and find what enables you to become inspired the most so you can get your creative juices flowing again.
