These are the six most popular tourist attractions in the world. They have been ranked according to the number of visits they receive each year, making them some of the best travel destinations.

Eiffel tower

The Eiffel Tower was built for the 1889 World's Fair, and it's still one of the most recognizable structures in the world.

The tower is 324 feet tall, making it taller than many other buildings in Paris, as well as nearly twice as high as New York's Statue of Liberty and London's Big Ben. It is also the third-most visited paid monument in the world after the Louvre Museum and Notre Dame Cathedral.

The tower can be accessed by 464 steps up from ground level and costs 7 euros per person to climb. Climbing to the top takes about an hour, but you can also take a lift up or take an elevator to different levels within the tower's interior.

The Colosseum

The Coliseum, which was built in 80 AD, is a famous landmark. The structure had a diameter of almost 200 meters and could hold over 70,000 people. It was the largest amphitheater built during Roman Empire period.

The Colosseum was used as a place for gladiatorial games, public executions, political rallies and even as a prison. The last use of the arena occurred during the persecution of Christians in Rome. Today this monument is open to visitors and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Rome.

The Colosseum has been visited by more than 500 million people since it was first built!

Statue of Liberty

Statue of Liberty, also called Liberty Enlightening the World (Liberté Éclairant le Monde in French), is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor in New York City. The copper statue, a gift from France and designed by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, was dedicated on October 28, 1886. It was a bold addition to the Exploratorium's collection of interactive exhibits at its opening in 1907 and is still one of its most popular attractions.

The statue has been featured in many films and television programs, including Superman II (1980), Spider-Man 2 (2004), Spider-Man 3 (2007), and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017).

Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is a city located high in the Andes Mountains of Peru. It was built on top of a mountain by the Incas and was used as a place for them to worship and conduct their rituals. Although it has been almost completely destroyed, it has been preserved in such a way that it can still be visited today. Machu Picchu was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1981 due to its significance to humankind's history.

Pyramids of Giza

They are located on the Giza Plateau near Cairo, Egypt. The pyramid complex was built over 4,600 years ago during the Old Kingdom and is the oldest of the ancient wonders in Egypt.

The Great Pyramid of Khufu (known to some as Cheops) is the largest pyramid in Egypt with a volume of over 2 million cubic meters, while its height is 481 feet (146 m). It was built around 2560 BC for Khufu, son of Pharaoh Snefru (also known as Cheopso), and his chief architect was Imhotep. The Great Pyramid remained standing for almost 3,800 years until it was destroyed by an earthquake in AD 978.

Great wall of China

It is a series of stone and earthen fortifications in northern China built to protect the Chinese Empire from northern nomadic invasion during the Middle Ages. The wall stretches for about 13,500 km.

The Great Wall was built over many centuries by many different dynasties and states, over a distance of about 5,000 miles (8,000 km). It has withstood earthquakes, floods and invasions by enemies. Along its entire length, it has been restored many times, but especially near Beijing where most of its original sections still stand.
