The beauty of the Amazon (and we mean the jungle) is something to witness at least once in a lifetime. A place filled with lush greenery, exotic animals, and the thrill of adventure. You might visit this unpredictable giant for its unpredictability, to get a rush of adrenaline, test your fear, see the rare wildlife, observe the tribal culture, or just to be in the deepest lap of nature. No matter what your purpose is, you surely might not want to miss the many exotic and rare animal species that wander in its wilderness.

If you’ve planned to take a leap of faith and embrace the deep of the Amazon, here is a list of species you must bless your eyes with.

Jaguar

One of the most iconic animals in the Amazon jungle, Jaguar wanders with pride and silence through its dense foliage. It's the largest cat in the Americas and a formidable predator. While it's rare to see a jaguar in the wild, it's not an impossible thing. We do not mean that you exit the normal path and enter the deep of Amazon – never recommended. But you should do things that increase your chances of witnessing this ghostly storm-like animal. Your best chance of seeing one is on a nighttime safari or a riverboat tour. Keep your eyes peeled for movement along the riverbanks and listen for the telltale roar of a jaguar.

Anaconda

This snake is something that we all remember from our childhood. The movie series made on Anaconda has given a good scare to all of us. But it is not a fictional animal. In reality, Anaconda exists and slowly sweeps through the sinuous Amazon River. It is the largest snake in the world and one of the most fascinating creatures in the Amazon jungle. They can easily grow up to 30 feet in length and weigh over 500 pounds. But know that Anacondas are excellent swimmers and are often found near rivers and other bodies of water, so be cautious while you walk through these areas. If you're lucky enough to spot one, keep your distance, and remember that they are non-venomous. But this does not mean that they cannot kill you.

Poison Dart Frog

Where you surely might want to observe a creature as might as an Anacond, you surely might not want to miss on something as tiny as a Poison Dart Frog. It is one of the most colorful creatures in the Amazon jungle and can easily be observed in a variety of different hues. These little frogs are known for their bright colors. These bright colors are their way of telling that “we are unimaginably poisonous, so stay the hell back.” While they may be small, they pack a powerful punch. Keep an eye out for these little guys while trekking through the jungle.

Sloth

Never observe these sluggish souls if you are already feeling lazy (which is a rare chance when in the deep of the Amazon). Sloth is one of the most laid-back creatures in the Amazon jungle, but they are a joy to watch. You might keep your eyes fixed on them for hours and yet not observe them moving a meter. These slow-moving animals spend most of their lives in the trees and move very slowly on the ground.

With long claws and ‘I know everything’ sort of face, they may be observed in the canopy.

Macaw

And then we have a bird that is one of the most stunning fliers in the Amazon jungle. These birds love wearing different colors. It is a natural and excellent way to avoid shopping. Look above and you may find them flying in pairs or groups. Known for their loud calls, Macaws are also excellent mimics and can imitate other birds and even human speech.

Although the Amazon jungle is home to thousands of species, there are a few that you must not miss. Apart from this, there is also one thing that you must not miss – having proper clothing, shoes & accessories necessary for travels as wild as this. Keep an eye on free Shopify alternatives to be prepared for this once-in-a-lifetime journey.
