Northern Slice At The Bike Garden
A Lovely Place In Nunsmoor Newcastle
Introduction
I am not sure how to write about this wonderful place, that I visited properly for the first time today.
This is where they are on Facebook and was on my way to a delayed Father's Day lunch with Kirsty, Mark, Alexis and Fiona at Brunch 23 which you can read about below.
I was there quite early and needed some drugs from the local chemist so it was shut. I had passed Northern Slice / Th eBike Garden and thought that it looked like a nice place but each time I was too early or too late to check them out. Today I did have time so dropped in.
So Why Is Northern Slice So Nice?
There were people sitting at tables having drinks, kids playing, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Two girls were having coffee, and they both had impressive tattoos that I remarked on and they thanked me.
I then wandered over to the coffee serving area which had an impressive menu list and some impressive cake. One of the girls came over and got me a cafe latte and some cake which was very enjoyable and you can see it below.
While I wanted to take photos there were a lot of people about so it was difficult trying to avoid them but I did get a few like the tent as you come into this article and the area below which caught my attention.
I wish I had dropped in here before today, but that is what happens in life, you sometimes miss things because they are not on your usual path, but to be honest, if I drove everywhere I would miss so many good things, but this is a good thing that I have now found and will be enjoying much more in the coming months.
Today I just tried a slice of cake and a cup of coffee, but that is a tiny slice of what happens here and now I will delve into their Facebook page to bring you a little more about this amazing place. Make sure you check out the short video that I shared at the start of this, and there are a lot more on their Facebook page, so it really is worth you dropping in there to explore a little further.
So What Else Happens Here?
There is an upcoming performance on the 1st of July 2023 and I am tempted to actually put my name down to play or maybe read some poetry. If it happens you will know because I don't tend to be quiet about these things.
Every Friday they serve pizza from 5 pm and also have a pizza masterclass if you want to learn how to make pizza. Below is a short video for you to enjoy.
Conclusions
Essentially there is a lot happening in the wonderful corner of Nunsmoor. The people are welcoming and you are made to feel that you are part of the community. I certainly felt my spirits lift while I was there and felt really good when I left.
Maybe it was the weather, maybe the cake, maybe the coffee, maybe the people I talked with, but probably it was all of these things, and I know that they are virtually on my doorstep.
While my friends around the world can't come into this lovely place, I will be sharing pictures and experiences going forward and will be dropping in with friends and family, especially if I can persuade myself to go along and perform next Saturday.
If you are a Novocastrian you really need to check this place out, it is wonderful.
Here is my interview with Natalie who serves the lovely coffee, cakes and cookies and does a gorgeous caramel frappé here.

Oh how charming! I have recently been going the long way to the office when I leave the parking garage, in an effort to see more of Savannah and am always amazed by so many beautiful things! This story almost felt like a little stroll with you. Thanks for sharing!
