Located on Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls Canada, the Movieland Wax Museum is a unique experience to get close to your favorite stars on a rainy day, when its cold and snowing or you want to get out of the heat on a hot sunny day. There are several pros and cons to visiting this attraction so don't make a special trip just to visit but if you are purchasing a fun pass it is worth a quick visit.

The Movieland Wax Museum on Clifton Hill boasts it is the largest wax museum in Niagara Falls Canada. They continually update some of the displays while keeping some classics available all the time. At Movieland Wax Museum you can see life sized replicas of actors like Johnny Depp, Miley Cirus and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as well as characters like the Predator from the Predator Movie Franchise and King Kong. If you crave more nostalgic times they usually have a full display of classic TV and Movie actors like Bob Hope, Cher, Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand and Charlie Chaplan. The kids seem to enjoy Michael Keaton as Batman and Christopher Reeves as Superman as well.

One of the cons of the Movieland Wax Museum on Clifton Hill is it is very expensive if you buy a standard pass. Because all you do is walk around and look at mannequins, it really does not have any value as an attraction on its own. Another downside I have found visiting the Movieland Wax Museum is it is very dark and dirty. There is a musty smell throughout the attraction, the floor is often sticky and there is dust everywhere. I always feel like I need a shower when I leave and washing my hands is a must even if I have not touched anything.

A real cool thing about the Movieland Wax Museum is it is a fun spot to take photographs. To the naked eye the displays are clearly replicas of human beings. Through a camera lens they almost come to life. If you know how to use the manual settings on your camera and have a mono or tripod you can get some really good shots of Crocodile Dundee standing at a bar or Bob Hope looking dapper in a tuxedo. Some of the photos still look pretty fake but it is a very rare opportunity in life to sit on the couch from the opening of the Simpsons with Homer and grab a selfie.

As I mentioned before the attraction (like many on Clifton Hill) is a bit bland. You spend most of your time walking around looking at mannequins of celebrities and although the older ones look somewhat realistic the new additions are not quite up to par. The exhibits of characters in full costumes are probably the best. Darth Vader for example looks more realistic because his costume covers his entire body and face. The characters made from CGI also tend to look similar to how you would see them in the movies.

By itself the Movieland Wax Museum on Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls Canada is not really worth a visit, even though it is a good way to get out of the elements. It is however included with the Clifton Hill Fun Pass so if you purchase one and have never been to the attraction you may as well go. There certainly are more interesting places to see on Clifton Hill but some of the options on the pass are less fun than the Movieland Wax Museum.
