If you have Swiss on your travel bucket list and it is not within your budget, you can consider North Sikkim instead. When I visited the Alps in Switzerland in 2016, one traveler asked me, “You have the Mother of Mountains. Why the Alps?”. His question made me muse about it. Certainly, Swiss is a product that is marketed well while the Himalayas is an uncommon hidden treasure. Finally, I got a chance to visit North Sikkim with my wife in November 2021. Here, I am writing this blog describing our travel to Gangtok, Lachen, Kalapathar, Gurudongmar Lake, Lachung, Yumthang valley, Nathula Pass, Zero point in the northern part of Sikkim. All the pics in this blog are taken by me. Below is a short display of my collection.
So, I'm Moving to Mexico
Time to move My wife has struggled with serious allergies since she returned to the United States from working abroad over five years ago. The region of the country in which we currently reside is well known for being one of the most allergenic in the world, and in the past two years her allergies have taken a terrible toll on her physical and mental health. About six months ago her doctors informed us in no uncertain terms that if she remained in her current location she could expect a continued deterioration in her condition every year, and that her only chance at recovery was to move. My wife was born here, her family mostly still calls this region home and my own mother and father also live not that far from us. I moved back to this part of the country to be closer to my parents who are growing older. I had hoped to be here to help take care of them as they aged, as they had done for me so many times in my own life. Suffice to say, we both felt a move was not in the cards. However, after that declaration from the doctors we knew we had no choice. She began a new job hunt in earnest, and we together began to contemplate where we might want to relocate.

"And now for something completely different…" -Monty Python When I write, I often try to make it a quest for meaning and purpose. To find and embody an amateur philosophizer, and then share some of his insights with the world, so we can all have deeper and more meaningful moments every breath we take! To bring some levity and joy into your hum-drum lives!

James AllienPublished 2 years ago in WanderEverything you need to know about travel to Canada in our Canada travel guide.
Planning on traveling to a different country? Plan wisely. The competition at the top is getting stiffer, which means you have to leave no stone unturned if you want to stand out. Part of doing so will mean having adequate information about each prospective destination – including travel warnings and key details that may affect your trips such as safety considerations or the price of goods — and alternative options. When traveling to a foreign country, it's important to go the extra mile to make sure you are adequately prepared. This can mean doing things that other tourists might not be willing to do (such as seeking out important vaccinations and booking a hotel in an area that is safer than where most tourists stay). Or, having conversations with others who have traveled there in the past so you will know what they would recommend as a necessary precaution while on vacation.

There wasn’t much time for anything after I retired to my sisters’ house. Two days later, I returned to Queensland. Life continued as usual up there, and there were plenty of times when I almost called the whole trip off. I felt so much at home at that job. The work itself was hot, sweaty, challenging, heavy and every now and then, you get a caustic kiss. But the blokes were just exceptional, which shows how much the people you work with can change the situation. Side note: This also includes a job where I had to change the stirring mechanism in a giant pool of poop! Imagine an Olympic swimming pool full of poop. Human poop. It gets stirred by these horizontal paddles that cross the pool. These paddles are plastic and scrap along the bottom of the pool. Ergo, they need to be replaced every year. So yes, I have literally had jobs that were full of shit…
