This just means you’ll need a well-planned itinerary if you want to make the most of your journey. Whether you decide to go on a road trip, or maybe explore hiking tracks, beaches, or spend days at the national parks, exploring Victoria will, without a doubt, be a delightful experience for the entire family.

Hike the Grampians

Do you like to hike and marvel at the mesmerizing sceneries? If so, going on a hike along the Grampians will be your cup of tea. This lovely region is 260 kilometres from Melbourne, and it is a Heritage Listed National Park in Australia due to its stunning natural beauty, and remarkable sandstone ranges. If you love active adventures, the Grampians will offer you a myriad of half-day, full-day, and even overnight hiking adventures. With various route options, you’ll be able to see numerous stunning, and fascinating features of this Australian region. A vast number of native plants and animal species, easily noticeable along the way, will leave you in awe. Be prepared to see wallabies, kangaroos, echidnas, emus, and blooms of gaudy wildflowers.

Getaway at High Country

If Melbourne becomes overwhelming, and you suddenly feel the need for a rejuvenating break, going to High Country will feel amazing. You can enjoy cycling through vineyards, farmland, and fascinating villages thanks to the 250-kilometre-long sealed off-road rail trails. If you’re visiting for the first time, go on an easy cycling flat ride where you’ll see the stunning views of Mount Buffalo, before you relax with a cheese platter at Ringer Reef Winery. To taste Australia’s gourmet offerings, start the second day of your getaway experience by traveling to Beechworth. The striking gold rush architecture, and the captivating local history will definitely leave you breathless, if you enjoy learning about the past and becoming familiar with ancient times.

Have a Road Trip

Sometimes all you need is a relaxing drive to help you unwind and enjoy all the scenic beauties Australia has to offer. Taking a road trip is one of the best ways to experience Australia completely at your own convenience. This is especially true if you decide to invest in some of the affordable family caravans, and create an itinerary that will best fit the entire family. You can make stops whenever and wherever you want, while saving up on accommodation, because you'll have your house on wheels with you at all times. The Great Ocean Road has one of the most dramatic coastlines in the whole of Australia, allowing you to witness spectacular sceneries, jaw-dropping viewpoints, and cascading waterfalls off the Otway Ranges. Feel free to make a pit stop at Lorne and Apollo Bay, and if you want to learn about native animals, take a tour of Tower Hill.

Go to Phillip Island

If you want to continue your adventure south-southeast from Melbourne, at the 140th kilometre, you’ll come across the wonderful Phillip Island. This 26-kilometre-long, 9-kilometre-wide island is home to the cutest little penguins, which is the main reason for so many tourists coming to visit. Every day you can witness the Penguin Parade, and see the penguins march in the ocean, and back to their night-time nests. Furthermore, over 16,000 beautiful fur seals call Seal Rock their home, and play on the rocks, and in the water often, adding even more fun to the entire Phillip Island experience. For all the water sports lovers, Phillip Island will be especially enticing. You can go scuba diving and snorkeling, while getting familiar with the diverse and majestic underwater sea life.

Visit the Yarra Valley Wineries

Victoria’s finest cool-climate wine region is definitely the Yarra Valley. If you’re in the mood for some wine tasting, and delicious local produce, don’t miss out on this adventure. You don’t even have to limit yourself to only having a daytime trip, considering the Yarra Valley can offer you an array of top-class accommodation to help you indulge even overnight. A hot air balloon ride will give you a unique view of the valley all the way from between the clouds.

Final Thoughts

Victoria has so many wonderful places to offer to you, that it will be almost impossible to choose only a few for your visit. However, make sure you pick out those that will appeal to your interests, and have you experience the best of this Australian region, even in a short period of time.
