A holiday in the Maldives with your children is an incredible idea to have fun together and create many precious memories of bonding as a family. Children love the sea, sand, and the sun, you may wonder whether they will be thrilled or bored being surrounded by the enormous ocean. However, put your mind at rest as the Maldives is a mature destination knowing exactly what makes kids happy. Here are some ways to make your trip to the Maldives an out-of-this-world rendezvous for the entire family.

Kid’s Club

This is one of the unique Maldives tourist attractions many resorts offer demonstrating they welcome children and treat them as special guests considering their perspective of the Maldives experience. These spacious areas separately arranged within the resort offer a diverse range of games and activities to keep them engaged and active with dedicated staff assigned.

Some of the activities at these kids' clubs are educational allowing them learn about the Maldives. Having these clubs let the parents have a relaxing spa experience, a yoga session, or a private meal during such times.

Revel at the Beach

Having come to a tiny slice of paradise on earth, find a stretch of beach at the private resort island for your kids to have fun, it can be building sandcastles using the pristine sand, playing a game of ball, or simply enjoying a lazy swim. This is a special time of bonding with your kids, playing and having fun with them.

Make sure all of you are protected with sunscreen when spending time at the beach. Plan a picnic by the beach to make it even more exciting for the kids.

Enjoy Dolphins

Children are fascinated by these playful and curious mammals as they frolic about and show off in the deep sea. Many resorts in the Maldives have special dolphin-watching excursions to facilitate this. About 20 different species of dolphins are seen around the Maldives including striped, bottlenose, spotted, spinner and Risso’s whilst the most often spotted ones are the spinner dolphins. Have this exciting cruise with your children to educate them and see the wonder and joy in them as they watch the antics of the dolphins.

Snorkelling

This is an awesome experience for any child, as they discover the underwater world as a large live painting with spectacular hues and sometimes subtle and even graceful movements. If your resort has its house reef such as at Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi this experience is even better. All of you can experience snorkelling as a family and do it many times if the children find the colourful world beneath the surface of the water compelling.

Make sure that all of you are well protected with reef-safe sunscreen as the resorts do value the care shown by visitors not to endanger the coral ecosystem in the Maldives. This will also be an opportunity to educate your kids (if they are of an age to understand) the importance of coral ecosystems.

Do a Male Tour

Male is the capital of the Maldives and is the smallest capital in the world with an extent of 6.8 square km. Though small in stature this city has many sites of interest for a family with children. Arrange a Male City tour through your resort and gain some insights into the culture and rich heritage of the Maldives.

This excursion will provide a change from the resort and will keep them captivated by seeing the locals going about their work, their way of dress and the places of interest. These tours cover the Grand Friday Mosque, Sultan Park, and National Museum giving insights into the heritage whilst the fish and vegetable market makes them witness a hive of activity and colour. The Tsunami monument is also an educational feature of this tour. Make sure all of you are well protected with sunscreen for this tour.
