A Disney Winter Wonderland!

Everyone knows that the Walt Disney World Resort is the happiest place on earth! But not everyone knows that during the Christmas holidays, WDW turns into a magical winter wonderland!

Disney Christmas Decorations!

Just taking a stroll through the Disney theme parks, you are instantly in awe of the Christmas decorations. Christmas garlands and lights are spread throughout the park, and of course, some are shaped like Mickey Mouse. Christmas merchandise is sold in stores throughout the parks, and there are lots of Disney food/treats that are holiday-themed.

The parks do operate as normal with all your favourite rides and attractions, but there are also lots of special Christmas shows/events that are only shown during the holidays. However, it is the evening when the real fun begins!

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!

At the Magic Kingdom, when the day transitions into night, the whole of the theme park lights up and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party begins!

To start the night, Elsa lights up Cinderella's castle with an incredible show — demonstrating her ice powers. This is a very enjoyable moment for all Frozen fans!

There are several Christmas shows in each of the themed lands, but the main highlight is the Christmas parade. All of the floats have been decorated for the holidays, and it even starts snowing along Main Street! Free hot chocolate and cookies can also be acquired at various locations throughout the park for you and your family to enjoy whilst watching the festivities.

In true Disney fashion, the party ends with the Christmas fireworks called 'Holiday Wishes!' This firework display is designed specially for this time of year, and is the perfect way to end the night. The combination of the fireworks, Disney music and Christmas projections - can't help but make you feel happy and emotional.

This is "Disney magic" at it's very best!

Christmas at Disney Springs!

It's not just the theme parks that get all festive during the holidays.

Disney Springs — a downtown district of the Disney resort filled with restaurants, shops, and entertainment — also gets in on the Christmas action. There are several Christmas trees placed in each of the districts, all themed slightly different to one another, and there is a variety of live holiday entertainment played throughout the evening. You will see things like carollers, to a capella groups, who will help you get into the holiday spirit. The Christmas Drone show, however, is my favourite part of the night. The show involves hundreds of flying drones moving in sync with one another to Christmas music, making all sorts of recognisable shapes — like Christmas trees and angles. It is very impressive.

Christmas at the Disney Hotels!

Hotel hopping is also one of my favourite things to do at WDW! During the holidays, I love seeing how all the different hotels have been decorated for Christmas. Most of the hotels will have a giant tree in the lobby, and some sort of Christmas display to go along with it. The decorations tend to match the theme of the hotel, which I personally think is a very nice touch. The hotels also have their own exclusive restaurants and gift shops.

Staying at a Disney hotel during your WDW vacation is half the fun, not to mention receiving extra perks for being a Disney guest!

The Best Time of Year!

In my opinion, Walt Disney World during the Christmas holidays is the best time to visit! All of the festivities make it that much more special compared to any other time of year. The entire resort offers so much, I didn't even get to see everything — and I certainly plan on visiting WDW again during the holidays. It's a great time for everyone of all ages whether you're a family, couple, or group of friends. The "Disney magic" really is on another lever during this time of year, and WDW is a great place to embrace the Christmas spirit!
