The more you use it, the more you like it

If you have not tried it yet, or maybe have not heard of the benefits of the menstrual cup, this post interests you. Whoever uses it, knows it's a change for the better in female life. The period is something that we have to live with and the menstrual cup makes it easier, hygienic and comfortable.

The compresses seems to me unsanitary. They are uncomfortable, not to mention the smell and having to change them several times a day. Tampons are not good for all people. Being so absorbent, they dry out a lot and can do damage inside us.

Here are all the benefits of the menstrual cup if you still doubt about trying it or not.

1- Use the cup any day of your period

Those first and last days that you bleed enough to stain your panties but not so much to put on a tampon or pad are horrible. You put on a panty liner, which further dries your intimate area, or worst, if one more drop falls, it spills. You can put on your menstrual cup from minute one, it's so comfy! It doesn't matter if you spot a drop or three liters. Does not dry the walls or drip or stain.

2- Hypoallergenic medical silicone material

They are usually made of the same type of silicone that is used in surgical material. So, it's not harmful to the body or invasive, it doesn't have chemicals or cause reactions. The materials of the pads and tampons usually come with the fine print regarding the inconveniences that their materials may cause.

Of course, if you have any type of problem or allergy, you should consult your doctor first. But generally, it’s suitable for any women.

3- You can have it up to 12 hours

It lasts longer than a tampon, precisely because it doesn’t cause any damage inside us. A maximum of 12 hours is recommended, but even if you spend it (because you forget it or because you wear it at night), nothing will happen. The only thing is that if you stain a lot, it will overflow. Otherwise, its prolonged use is safe.

4- You work the pelvic floor

We know that the use of Chinese Balls and vibrating eggs strengthen the pelvic area. The function of these sexual apparatuses is none other than to have those muscles in tension. The same thing happens with the menstrual cup. Being inside for so long makes the pelvic floor work to "support" it, making it extra exercise for you.

It is true that there are indications about resting the pelvic floor and not using it all day and night. In our experience, it’s up to each one to see whether or not the contracted area is noticeable to regulate its use.

5- You save money in the long term

The average lifespan of a menstrual cup is between 8 and 10 years. Its average price is about 25$. If we count a monthly cost of 2$ for compresses and tampons (pulling downwards), we get between 192$ and 240$. Now think about what sex toy you can buy with that saving money.

6- You take care of the environment

The use of compresses and tampons accumulates 400 million waste a year, according to data from the XXV Conference Convention on Climate Change (COP25). How many of you have seen some of this float on the beach? Not only take years to decompose (the largest percentage of their material is microplastic), but there are also those who are not careful with where their waste ends.

7- The menstrual cup doesn’t smell

Smell is horrible for every women when we had our period. This is why they constantly sell us pads with anti-odor formula. The cup doesn’t let it out, either when we take it off. With the compresses, smell happens because the bleeding mixes with the absorbent components and they remain crystallized during the hours you wear it.

Have you been convinced by these benefits of the menstrual cup? Dare to try it!
