Rise of the Woman: Nia, KeKe, Justice, Jalynn & Destiny show off their new unis for 2021-22

As basketball season approaches some of our favorite women's players around the country have given us a glimpse of what they look like in their new uniforms. The beauty of Instagram is that we no longer have to depend on third party outlets to post boring head shots and a bland bio of these athletes. The players have the power to produce content as much and as colorful as possible. Here is a look at what is to come in the 2021-22 college season and how it will look like around the NCAA.

KeKe McKinney

Now at Charlotte, KeKe McKinney is a forward who started her career at Kentucky where she competed for the previous four seasons. At 6-1 she has proven to be a strong defender. During the 2019-20 season she blocked a career best 42 shots in 26 games. Last season she blocked two shots in seven games and three shots in one. Her three-block game came in the NCAA Tournament against Iowa. Her season high in steals came in 2018-19 when she swiped the ball 33 times in 31 contests.

In 2020-21, her biggest games were a 13-point effort against Florida where she made six-of-10 shots. She had games against Mississippi State and Vanderbilt where she drained three-of-four threes in both contests posting 11 points in each game. McKinney had a season best four steals in the season opener against Murray State. A native of Knoxville, McKinney was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Nia Clouden

Michigan State's Nia Clouden averaged 18.7 points per game last season. She scored a career high 34 points on .579 shooting from the field, .500 shooting from three and .818 from the free-throw line in a game against Big Ten and state rival Michigan. Clouden started the season with 15 points and 10 assists in the season opener against Saint Francis. Her first big scoring outburst of the season was in the Spartans' third contest when she scored 25 points on .625 shooting against Minnesota. She had a game where she shot .600 against Maryland when she had 32 points to go along with five assists. Clouden earned First Team All-Big Ten honors in 2021 after being named to the second team in 2020.

Jalynn Holmes

Jalynn Holmes competed at Towson from 2017-2019 before her first and only season at Norfolk State in 2020-21. She led Norfolk State in scoring at 12.6 points per game which was a career high. The 5-10 guard from Upper Marlboro, Maryland was second-team All-MEAC. Her best games of the season include a 23-point performance against Salem, where she had three steals. She posted 18 points and five steals against North Carolina Central. Holmes shot 3-7 from three-point territory that game. Holmes is currently a grad student at Temple.

Destiny Smith

At 5-11, Destiny Smith is a guard at Southern Miss. The McComb, Mississippi native was named to the 2020-21 Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. She started the season scoring 10 points in the season opener against UTEP. Smith posted a double-double against Florida International when she had 10 points and 10 rebounds. She also shot .714 from the field during that game. She grabbed a season best 11 rebounds against UTSA. Smith scored a season best 12 points in 17 minutes while shooting 5-6 from the field against Florida Atlantic.

Justice Coleman

Justice Coleman is a 5-10 grad student at Grambling. Last season she was her team's third leading scorer with an average of 11.3 points per game. She earned her lone double-double of the season against Prairie View when she scored 14 points and hauled in 10 rebounds. Her best scoring output came in a 27-point outburst against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. She nailed 11-of-18 shots in that contest. During the 2019-20 season Coleman led Grambling in scoring with an average of 15 points per game. That season she had six games with at least 20 points.
