Temple's Big Comeback

Temple 49, Georgetown 47

After starting the season 2-3, Temple (4-3) has recovered with wins over Villanova and Georgetown. The two-point road win came courtesy of a 22-9 fourth quarter run as Temple's Mia Davis posted a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double. The Owls sent the Georgetown crowd of 221 fans home in heartbreaking fashion. Georgetown was up 40-27 at the beginning of the final quarter but Temple's shooting came alive as it shot 8-14 (57 percent) in the fourth period. Temple shot an awful 1-14 in the first quarter and a combined 7-26 in the second and third quarters.

Temple got strong efforts from Caranda Perea and Aniya Gourdine who scored nine and eight points respectively off of the bench. they combined to shoot 5-11 from three, while the rest of the team shot 3-22 from long distance. Both players also recorded three steals each.

Georgetown was led in scoring by Kelsey Ransom's 15 points. Graceann Bennett led the Hoyas with 10 rebounds.

Vanderbilt 91, Chattanooga 61

Vanderbilt's (4-3) bench lifted it to a blowout win over visiting Chattanooga (1-6). De'Mauri Flournoy scored 17 points in 19 minutes off of the bench to be the leading scorer in the contest. The 5-7 freshman guard scored a career high in the win tallying more than 10 points for just the second time this season.

Freshman forward Sacha Washington recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a very productive 17 minutes of action as a reserve for Vanderbilt. It was Washington's second consecutive double-double. Another freshman guard Iyana Moore came off of the bench to score 10 points. She shot 2-4 from three and has gone 9-20 from three over the past four contests.

La Salle 63, Penn 49

La Salle (4-3) outscored Penn 26-6 in the fourth quarter in a road win over Penn. Forward Kayla Sprull scored 17 points with nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks to lead La Salle to victory. Molly Masciantonio guided the team with six assists, nine points and three steals. Starting guard Jae Haynes also collected eight rebounds and two steals in the win.

Penn's Mia Lakstigala recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kennedy Suttle pulled down 10 rebounds and collected three steals. Jordan Obi was Penn's second leading scorer with 14 points. She also had nine rebounds.

Sprull has tallied nine rebounds in each of the past three games for La Salle. Her 17 points were the second most points that she has scored this season. The 6-0 senior guard/forward has scored at least 13 points in all but one of her seven games.

Harvard 99, Merrimack 75

McKenzie Forbes guided Harvard to a win in front of 315 fans, by scoring 23 points. She made four of her seven three-point attempts as she continued her hot shooting. Over the past three games Forbes has shot 11-20 from three. She is currently averaging 16 points per game and shooting 43 percent from three for the entire season.

Maggie McCarthy led Harvard with six assists, while scoring 14 points on a perfect 6-6 shooting from the field. She also had five rebounds and two steals. Harvard forced Merrimack to have 29 turnovers as it recorded 15 steals. Merrimack shot an outstanding 59 percent, making 16 of its 27 three-point attempts, but the turnovers were too much to overcome. Harvard shot 17-28 from three, which was 60 percent from long distance.

Mayson Kimball led Merrimack with 24 points as she shot 6-9 from three.

Virginia State 56, Virginia-Lynchburg 35

Kaaliya Williams scored 20 points and yanked down 15 rebounds to lead Virginia State (2-4) to a 21-point home win. Virginia State survived a rough shooting night, where it shot 29 percent from the field, by shooting 86 percent from the free-throw line (13-15). Williams made all six of her free-throw attempts and performed well on the defensive end with three steals. This was Williams' third double-double of the season and second in as many games.

Valerie Samuel also contributed in the win with 11 rebounds, six assists, four points and two steals. Sommer Blakemore led the team with four steals to go along with four rebounds and four points.

Virginia-Lynchburg had 32 turnovers, while shooting a miserable 21 percent.
