Where has all gone wrong for Aaron Wan-Bissaka?
Going to EURO 2020 England had a lot of great options at right-back. Kieran Trippier, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Reece James, and Kyle Walker were calling for their place among the starting 11. England manager Gareth Southgate took advantage of such luxury and shared the playing time among them to maintain freshness in the team. However, the fifth option Aaron Wan-Bissaka was never in the contest to join the tournament’s squad despite playing really well for the club. Today, he looks as far away from Three Lions as he has ever been. So, where has everything gone wrong for him?

Why signing too many players in a transfer window is a suicide
Seeing teams get promoted always fills me with joy. They have suffered so much, played so well, overcame all the downfalls, and possibly with a bit of luck, it was enough for them to secure the spot among the league’s best. I was one of many who were eager to see Nottingham Forest FC back in the Premier League. Once a European force was not in the English flight division for some time. But after signing player after player in the summer transfer window doubts began to rise. That can’t work I said to myself. Up to this point, I was right. Let’s see why.

Hello readers, I hope you all have been enjoying my recent posts. It’s been a while since I’ve written an NFL blog, but I’ve decided to give it another try. We are almost a third of the way through the 2022-23 NFL season and so far, there have been a handful of teams that did not make the postseason last year but have showed some noticeable improvement and/or displayed flashes of upside that seem to indicate they could be contenders when January arrives. I’ve identified seven such teams and consulted my (imaginary) magic eight ball to seek answers to the question… will (insert team name here) make the playoffs this season?

UEFA Nations League serves only lower-ranked countries
When UEFA Nations League was introduced it received much skepticism. Since it was something completely new, quite expectedly. After two whole editions behind us and the last one in the final stages (only the final four of league A winners and C league relegation battles yet to play), it’s fair to say that not everyone is pleased with it. Don’t get me wrong. It has more positives than negatives, but one thing stands out the most. It conveniently serves lower-ranked countries while it produces more potential problems for the “big ones”. Let me explain why.

My Facebook Status is about to read: "Sorry in advance guys if we lose Red River, I broke down and broke unspoken tradition, I had What-A-Burger during OU-Texas Week. I rationalized it to myself by thinking we're basically supposed to lose this one going in with a Concussed Starting Quarterback and and Backup that didn't stick around at Pitt despite finally having Kenny Pickett out of his way. Plus Sonic sucks by comparison and Braum's doesn't serve lunch menu til 11 am."

Mahopac Trio Bring Home Gaelic football Crown from Ireland
Photo by Suzanne Dolan In February, 24 girls were selected from the Gaelic Athletic Association of NY to play in the Féile Gaelic Football Championships. The tournament played on July 2 in Dublin, New York was obviously a long way from home and had a pretty tall order competing in Europe’s game. Still, the Irish didn’t thumb their noses at their little American sisters and were genuinely welcoming, according to Mahopac’s Gianna Dolan. “Everywhere we went, wearing the New York gear made me feel like a celebrity. People wanted to meet us and take pictures. It was a wonderful experience, and I am proud to be a part of the team.” So the field was probably just as obliging to send New York home with the Irish version of a participation trophy. But these girls had other things in mind and weren’t quite as hospitable as guests.

NFL Week One - My three biggest Surprises
To attribute week one of the NFL’s 2022 regular season a ‘surprising’ one would be a weighty understatement. I struggle to recall another season in recent memory to which held so many storylines, upsets and diversions from pre-established narrative. These surprises range from Baker Mayfield’s struggles within his supposed ‘revenge game’ – or Rodgers’ utter inability to keep the game close against his divisional rival. Chief amongst my surprise are three games in particular. Though, of course, it is a gross generalisation to pinpoint my shock to three games, I feel these set were the most egregiously unexpected.
