Click for Somers Football Photos vs Eastchester On Saturday, the Somers 5th Grade Girls Basketball team got the chance to show their game at a decidedly larger stage than the Intermediate School. The Tuskers faced off against Harrison during halftime of the Fordham, Virginia Commonwealth women’s basketball game. Still, 10-year-old Eva Rodgers didn’t let the big stage confuse the basketball bottom line as she warmed up. “It’s the same game—just in front of more people,” said Eva. But Somers Girls Commissioner Dom Giudice didn’t see the setting creating as much focus for the girls as the one on one they would get inside the Fordham locker room.
Rich MonettiPublished 6 years ago in UnbalancedWhy Westbrook Winning a Title Will Be a Miracle in Itself
At the start of the season, I saw that the Oklahoma City Thunder MIGHT have found an answer for Kevin Durant. They MAY challenge the Golden State dynasty in the Playoffs. They COULD rival the new Big 3 in Oakland. What transpired, was that every player that has left the Thunder has gotten BETTER, and it is all down to one man. Number 0. Now don't get me wrong, before the Warriors eventual title win with Kevin Durant, I thought that OKC were prime to make another title run. I thought that this was the new Big 3. I thought that the Miami dynasty with James, Wade, and Bosh was in jeopardy. I thought the West was finally making a comeback and taking away the East dominance from LeBron. I wasn't to be. Harden left for Houston and is an MVP candidate, Durant at Golden State and is a Champion and Finals MVP, and Westbrook is chasing rebounds and solo accomplishments.

At the age of seven or eight, I started to play basketball. As a kid I played a lot of sports, but that day, when I touched the orange ball...I felt a connection. You know it's sometimes that you have that feeling in your guts showing you, in a way, that this ball, this sport, IS your destiny. Even though I was a child, I knew what I wanted to be when I grow up. A professional basketball player. Yeah. I was sure. I started at a team in our town, made some friends for a lifetime, and it felt good having my teammates as my best friends. I felt more secure and good about myself, as a kid that wasn't very social. Days, weeks, months, years going by, years of hard work, sweat, pain, wins, and losses, someone saw me at a game where I dropped 25 points and told me, "I want you to try out for the team before the national team." OH BOY, was I excited. Who would've thought that I would have that opportunity? And without asking my parents, I instantly said, "I'll be there sir."
