As we all know, the Los Angeles Lakers’ season is over and it was a complete disaster. 4- time NBA Champion LeBron James, along with fellow NBA Champion Anthony Davis, were the ones who assembled the horrific roster and derailed their season.

Recently, there was a topic about LeBron James being traded from the Lakers.

The person who mentioned this topic is none other than the senior host of 'First Take', the best truth-teller in the game, Stephen A. Smith.

Should the Lakers consider trading LeBron James?

According to Stephen A. Smith on First Take, he made a announcement that “LeBron James should be traded” from the Lakers. As presently, constructed, the “Lost” Angeles Lakers will not be contending for a longtime. Anthony Davis is injury prone. Russell Westbrook’s contract is not tradable.

The only superstar who is a lot of value and can still play at a high level is LeBron.

LeBron’s longevity in the game is an example of how players should follow. For 19 years, he stays fit every year (fitness, nutrition, etc.) and always found a way to beat ‘Father Time’. Now Smith named a few ideal teams LeBron could be traded to and some of them are hypothetical destinations.

Here are the teams:

1. Cleveland

2. Miami

3. Utah

4. Portland

Even Memphis was the team Smith named as a possible destination. Of the teams Stephen A. Smith mentioned above, the only team that is the most ideal for LeBron to go.

Cleveland.

Why you may ask?

Cleveland is the only destination to end LeBron’s amazing NBA career. What a storybook ending to return there and end his career with former teammate and champion Kevin Love.

Now, to Stephen’s part, he explained that LeBron can ask for a trade if next season repeated itself. Since LeBron has a “no-trade-clause”, he can choose to either tell the front office to trade him or stay with the franchise.

With LeBron’s stature, he doesn’t deserve to be traded only because he is one of the greatest players of all time, behind Michael Jordan.

The King

So far, LeBron almost owns all of the stats you can think of, except all-time in assists, 3-pointers made, which he will not surpass, and scoring, which he will next season. Furthermore, ‘King James’ owns the record of playoff scoring and is 2nd in triple-doubles in the NBA Finals behind Lakers legend Magic Johnson.

Now the question is, does LeBron really want to be traded after all he has done for the game? Is he ready to leave a dismantled franchise and return home? Will LeBron stay put until he retires?

The First Take Panel

The panel, along with ESPN analyst J.J. Reddick and ‘Mad Dog’ Russo, disagreed with Smith’s take.

Each gentleman provided stats and reasons as to why LeBron should never be traded. We know Mad Dog would talk about his historic stats and bring up the teams LeBron joined. As it pertains to J.J Reddicks’ take, he exclaimed that Smith’s take is a “crazy take” and it should be LeBron’s decision.

Takeaways

In the end, it is LeBron James’ decision and his alone, no one else. If LeBron chooses to leave and join his son, that’s his choice. If LeBron chooses to stay and play against his son, that’s his choice.
