Randy 'Macho Man' Savage v. Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat

We have a real treat for you tonight ladies and gentleman… A match between two greats… The Macho Man Randy Savage versus Ricky the Dragon Steamboat for the Intercontinental Championship! This rivalry has had quite the build up in the past months, Savage sending Steamboat to the hospital after ringing his bell with the ring bell…

‘Pomp and Circumstance’ begins to play… Here comes the reigning Intercontinental Champion—Randy the Macho Man Savage… The beautiful Miss Elizabeth accompanies him… Savage is wearing an extravagant sequined robe, purple shimmers and trails from below the Macho Man’s arms, a rich cape-like design of turquoise flows down Savage’s back… The trim of the robe is white, emblazoned in the turquoise strip on the back white sequins shine like snow and read ‘MACHO MAN’… Savage also wears a white headband and big ski glasses with white frames…

Savage and Elizabeth step in the ring… Randy points at the crowd, spreads his arms and does that Macho Man twirl… He shows off his Intercontinental belt…

Savage talks to Elizabeth as Ricky’s music begins to play…

Here comes Ricky the Dragon Steamboat! He is accompanied by George ‘the Animal’ Steele… Steamboat is adorned in a white karate gi with ‘The Dragon’ embroidered in flaming red lettering, underneath he is wearing white wrestling tights, full length, and boots adorned with dragons on the side… Steele is wearing a suit… Thankfully… The dude has a sweater of back hair underneath that shirt…

Nevermind… Luck seems to not be on our side… The Animal takes off his shirt as the two combatants do the same in the ring… Look at the back hair! Gah… The Animal’s rounded, furry body is certainly a contrast to Steamboat’s martial artsH chiseled frame…

The Macho Man hands Miss Elizabeth his glorious robe… Beneath he is wearing peach colored wrestling briefs adorned with ‘MACHO *MAN*’ on the rear and three white stars on the front… Yellow boots and kneepads compliment the tights…

The referee holds up the title… This match is about to get under way…

The bell rings… Elizabeth takes Savage’s sunglasses and headband before she steps out of the ring… The two men circle each other… Savage nears the corner and leans on the top to say one last thing to Elizabeth… He bounces his chest off the ropes and quickly circles around… Looks like he is going to waste no time with Steamboat…

Savage only faking his opponent out… He raises his hand to rally the crowd… A cheer erupts… Randy drops his hand… The two men circle each other… A lockup… Savage breaks the tie-up… The two stare each other down… Another tie-up…

The Macho Man swings Steamboat’s arm across his chest, turning the man’s body away from him… Savage has Ricky… Reversal by Steamboat—Hip-toss to the mat… Savage quick to his feet…

Steamboat drops into a horse stance, ready for his opponent… Savage stares Steamboat down before running across the ring and heading to the outside…

Outside, Savage eyes the Animal, who has recently had his eyes on Elizabeth—creepy, hairy bastard… Savage leads Elizabeth to the other side of the ring before sliding back in under the bottom rope…

The two men tie-up… Savage creates enough space to send a knee to Steamboat’s gut. Randy grabs Ricky and sends him to the ropes with an Irish-whip… Savage going for a big clothesline… The Dragon ducks the attempt… Savage quickly turns only for Steamboat to hook him in an arm drag…

Savage quick to his feet… Steamboat off the ropes… Randy is ready and Ricky knows it… The Macho Man attempts a stiff punch, the Dragon drops to the mat and slides between his opponent’s legs… Savage is quick to turn around, but Ricky is already back to his feet… The man in white with another arm drag…

Both men quick to their feet… Savage charges Steamboat… Steamboat catches Savage with both hands around his throat… The Dragon lifts his opponent high into the air and proceeds to strangle Randy…

The referee with the five count…

Steamboat throws Savage to the mat who then rolls out of the ring… Savage circles ‘round, holding the back of his aching head… Ricky follows his opponent outside the ring but it looks as through he has fallen into the Macho Man’s trap…

Savage is quick to get back into the ring, readying himself for Ricky’s return… He meets the Dragon with a double axe-handle to the back of his head upon reentry… Steamboat pops back up and stumbles about the ring holding his head… Savage stalks his prey, he grabs Steamboat’s arm and reveals his ribs before sending a boot to those bones…

Steamboat tries to make a little distance between him and his foe… To no avail… Savage grabs the back of Ricky’s head and leads him across the ring before positioning the man’s throat to press to the top rope… He’s putting all his weight on top of Steamboat! He’s going to crush the man’s larynx!

Savage lets up, Steamboat still draped over the rope… Randy grabs the rope and pulls it towards his chest, launching his opponent to land hard with his back to the mat… Savage with the pin…

A quick kick-out by Ricky the Dragon Steamboat…

Randy pulls Ricky to his feet and holds him by the hair… He’s preparing a stiff elbow… Bone on bone… The blow hits the Dragon hard in the forehead; it sends him stumbling to the corner… The Macho Man wont let up, he’s close behind… He grabs Steamboat by the hair, presses the sharp part of his forearm into the Dragon’s face and wedges him against the turnbuckle…

The referee breaks up Savage’s illegal move… The crowd is beginning to get behind the challenger… Chants of “Steamboat! Steamboat! Steamboat!” fill the arena… Ricky is still in the corner… Savage circles around before charging at his opponent… The Dragon is too fast, he moves out of the way and Savage crashes into the turnbuckle…

The Macho Man is holding his chest as the Dragon moves toward his prey… Steamboat turns Savage around and grabs his left hand before interlocking the fingers of his own right hand with the other man’s… Steamboat lifts Savage high into the air before bringing him down to the mat and into a wicked wrist-lock…

Savage makes it from his knees to his feet… Steamboat wrenches Savage’s shoulder with an arm ringer… He leads his opponent toward the ropes… What is he doing here? Ricky steps through the ropes to the apron, he’s still got Savage… Oh! He brings Savage’s arm down over the top rope as he jumps to the floor below… Savage staggers backward as the Dragon makes his way back into the ring…

Steamboat with a sharp punch to that injured shoulder… Again he interlocks his fingers with those of Savage’s left hand… And again he twists that shoulder as he rotates it over his head…

Still holding Savage’s hand, the arm unnaturally angled, causing the man to hunch over, Steamboat delivers a precision strike to the bound shoulder… Savage falls to his knees, Ricky’s still got ahold of him…

The Macho Man attempts to get to his feet… He does, but barely… Steamboat quickly forces Savage back to his knees by yanking his arm toward the mat… Savage to his feet… The tides may be a’turnin’—The champion grabs his opponent by the hair… Irish-whip to the ropes…

Ricky off the ropes… Savage with a brutal elbow to the face… Steamboat drops to his back on the mat… Savage stumbles to the corner to catch his breath and nurse that shoulder…

Steamboat back to his feet… Savage is quick onto his opponent… He grabs the Dragon by the back of the head and runs him toward the far corner… Steamboat over the top turnbuckle and to the outside!

Ricky tries to get back into the ring but is met with a big yellow boot to the face… Back to the floor goes the man from Honolulu... This time however, the Dragon is quick to his feet, he nears the ring… Savage is ready and he grabs a fistful of Steamboat’s hair and proceeds to pull the man up onto the apron…

The Macho Man drapes Steamboat over the rope, the man’s chest and neck fully exposed… Savage with a heinous elbow to the throat… Steamboat sinks down to a sitting position on the apron… He’s fighting for breath…

Savage makes his way over to Steamboat still seated on the edge of the ring… Big yellow boots bludgeon the Dragon’s back and shoulders… Four blows of the boot heel and Steamboat falls to the floor outside…

Randy pumps his fist in the ring, waiting for Steamboat to get back up and continue the fight… The Macho Man meets Steamboat as he nears the apron and again grabs a fistful of follicles… Pulling the Dragon up to the apron, Savage wraps his arms around Steamboat’s neck and yanks him over the top rope… A rather ungraceful looking somersault up and over… Steamboat crashes to the mat…

Savage gives the challenger little time and helps the Dragon up by his jet colored hair… With a tug, Randy pulls Ricky’s head back to expose his face and make way for another elbow… The blow lands direct and the man in white drops to his knees… Savage hooks the stunned Steamboat bringing the man’s back to the mat for the pin…

A kick-out by Steamboat…

Randy quick to his feet… Ricky still back on the mat… Savage leaps into the air and brings a big knee drop down on Steamboat’s sternum… That one had to hurt!

The Macho Man again attempts the pin… 1… 2…

Another kick-out by the challenger…

Savage again helps Steamboat back to his feet via his hair… The champion leads his opponent into the corner… He’s going to smash the Dragon’s face into the turnbuckle! No! Ricky reverses by placing his foot on the middle corner pad! He’s got Savage by the hair! The Macho Man in a head-on collision with the top turnbuckle!

Steamboat turns Savage around so his back is to the corner before he delivers a harsh blow to the face… Another dragon-punch to the face sends Savage bouncing out the corner and the forward momentum places him right in the line of fire for another chop!

Randy doubles over, tries to create some distance… Ricky remembers the lack of time his opponent has allowed him throughout the match and quickly grabs Savage by the back of the head… Savage straightens up only to receive a sharp shot to the face…

Reeling, Randy bounces off the ropes… Steamboat right behind him… A sharp blow to the chest stumbles Savage backwards, and in trying to break his fall he has managed to tie his arms between the top and middle rope… The Macho Man is helpless here…

Steamboat gives Savage three right hands to the face before the ref backs the Dragon off… He relents for a moment only to come upon his opponent with another headshot… Ricky circles around, nears for a third attack…

Savage, arms still tied in the ropes, boots Steamboat in the ribs… The ref has been working to get Randy out of that tangle of ropes and it looks like he has done it… The Macho Man is free… He stalks behind Steamboat as Steamboat clutches his side and tries to regain the wind knocked out of him by Randy Savage’s big boot…

Steamboat makes it to the ropes only moments before Randy grabs him from behind, his fist clutching the hair on the back of the Dragon’s head… Savage attempts to toss Ricky to the ropes… Reversal! Savage off the ropes… He grabs Steamboat and attempts another Irish-whip… Ricky off the ropes… Another reversal by the Dragon as he leaps into the air for a high cross body for the pin…

A kick-out by the Macho Man…

Both men quick to their feet… Steamboat with another arm drag… Ricky keeps Randy’s arm locked after the maneuver and brings him back to his feet… Savage pushes Ricky into the ropes… The Dragon comes off the ropes and downs his opponent with the shoulder block… Steamboat going for the pin…

Barely a two count… Savage kicks out…

Both men up… Steamboat off the ropes… Savage rushes his opponent… Steamboat catches the Macho Man with another shoulder block… The pace these two men are going at is unbelievable! Steamboat with another pin…

Another kick-out by the Macho Man…

Up again… Ricky off the ropes… Savage pushes the Dragon forward… Too much momentum! Ricky bounces off the ropes chest-first, unable to turn around properly with the added speed… Savage runs toward his opponent as the man stumbles backwards… Savage leaps into the air and Steamboat’s spine collides with the big knee…

Steamboat stumbles… Randy uses the time to catch his breath before grabbing the Dragon by the hair yet again… Savage leads the challenger to the ropes and tosses him over the top and to the outside…

To no avail! Steamboat holds on to the top rope and stops himself from fully falling to the floor… Look at that strength! Holding onto rope, Steamboat lifts himself backward, up, and over in a reverse motion mirroring that which nearly sent him to the ground below…

And all that showmanship for nothing! As soon as Steamboat makes it back into the ring Savage meets him with a clothesline that sends him over the top rope, spilling to the outside…

Steamboat having trouble getting back to his feet… The Animal tries to help the Dragon up but is stopped by the referee… Savage ducks outside the ring and gets a running start… Another big knee to the vertebrae and Steamboat stumbles forward uncontrollably… He slides over the table that holds the prize of this match and over the railing to the crowd outside…

Savage makes his way back into the ring… The referee is pissed; this match is getting out of control… Instead of starting the ten count the ref reprimands Randy Savage in the ring… Distracted, the official doesn’t notice George ‘the Animal’ Steele aid the fallen Steamboat…

Steamboat back in the ring… The ref tells Steele to shove off as Savage grabs his opponent by the back of the head and tosses him over the top rope to the outside yet again… Savage paces the ring before heading to the top turnbuckle…

The Macho Man raises his hands to the sky… This could be one of his patented big elbow drops… It is! Savage from the top rope bringing the elbow down on the dazed yet standing Dragon on the outside…

Savage rolls back into the ring to break the ten count, though the referee is more interested in telling off the champion than making the count… Randy Savage makes his way back outside the ring in order to grab his opponent… He tosses Steamboat back into the squared circle before heading once again to the top rope…

Bombs away! The Macho Man blasts Steamboat in the face with another elbow from the top rope… Ricky staggers but stays on his feet… Randy up from his kneeling position… Steamboat is caught with a running elbow and drops to the mat… Savage for the pin…

A powerful kick-out by Steamboat… Where is he getting the strength?

The champion again pulls his opponent to his feet by the hair… Savage leads Steamboat to the ropes… Randy leaps over the top rope, in his hand still a fistful of hair… Ricky’s windpipe is nearly crushed by that red rope!

Savage back into the ring for the cover… 1… 2…

Another kick-out by the Dragon!

After pulling the challenger to his feet, Savage grabs Steamboat from behind, slinging the man’s arm behind his neck… Randy lifts his opponent high into the air… And Ricky is brought down for a big atomic drop! Savage again grabs at his opponent’s scalp to bring him to his feet…

The Macho Man with a big suplex!

Exhausted, Randy crawls over for the cover…

And a tired kick-out by Ricky ‘the Dragon’ Steamboat…

Savage pulls Ricky to his feet, still holding his hair… The Macho Man readies another elbow and tries to smash it into Steamboat’s skull… Ricky too quick, he hits Savage with a precision blow to the sternum… A blow to the face… Steamboat with a brutal chop across Randy Savage’s chest…

The strike seems to have awoken Randy from his daze; he grabs Steamboat’s hair before landing a fist to the face… That might have caught him in the eye… Macho Man with a gut-wrench suplex for the pin…

Kick-out by Steamboat…

Randy on his feet, Ricky on his knees… Savage comes in for a strike… Steamboat quicker… Steamboat with a fist to the abdomen… Another right… Randy isn’t fazed, he pulls his opponent to his feet, grapples him from behind… Savage going for what looks to be another atomic drop!

Reversal by Ricky Steamboat! He flips backwards as Savage lifts him into the air and comes to land on his feet behind the champion… Savage turns only to meet a savage chop to the chest by the Dragon… Steamboat follows it up with a chop to the face… Another chop to the chest sends Randy to the ropes… Ricky grabs his arm for an Irish-whip to the far ropes…

Steamboat bends over for a toss… Randy is prepared… Ricky takes a yellow boot to the face… He’s seeing stars, and not just the ones on Savage’s tights… Steamboat stumbles to the ropes, leans with his arms sprawled over and to the outside… Savage runs at the challenger for another clothesline…

It looks as though the Dragon was playing opossum… As Randy nears, Ricky is ready and tosses the man in the pink tights over his head and the top rope to come to crash on the outside… The crowd is going wild! Elizabeth looks perturbed…

Finally the ref decides to start a proper ten count… It matters little however, as Steamboat heads out of the ring to meet his opponent on the outside… Savage is on his feet but stunned… Steamboat approaches his opponent from behind, grabs the back of the man’s head and forcefully bounces his face off the canvas… Savage rolls back into the ring to avoid further punishment…

Ricky Steamboat to the top turnbuckle… Savage on his feet in the ring but unawares… A big karate chop from the top rope comes down on the Macho Man’s chest and he falls to the mat… Steamboat for the win…

Savage has a foot on the ropes! Rope-break! The count is nullified! Steamboat, frustrated, pulls Randy to his feet… Irish whip by Ricky… Macho Man off the ropes… Steamboat drops to a horse stance and delivers a powerful chop that drops Savage to his back…

Randy Savage is still in this…

The Dragon is getting fed up… With Savage still laying on the mat, Steamboat punishes the man with three blinding chops to the eyes from a standing position, rising to his feet before dropping to his knees for each one to ensure the maximum amount of damage is done… Savage rolls to the apron… Steamboat close behind… A hard punch to the face sends Randy rolling to the outside…

The Macho Man is slow to rise but rise he does… He makes his way back to the apron and as he does so the Dragon ducks out of the ring in order to pursue his prey… Savage back in the ring, Ricky not far behind… The two lock-up, Randy in the ring, Steamboat standing on the apron… And there he goes!

Ricky Steamboat with a sunset flip over the top! He tries to pull Savage down to the mat… Randy struggles to hold on to the top rope… His hand slips and he falls into the pin…

Macho ain’t giving up yet…

Both men on their feet… Randy Savage throws a wild punch at Ricky Steamboat… Steamboat dodges and drops down… Reaching between Savage’s legs Steamboat pulls the Macho Man down to the mat for a roll-up…

The match continues…

Fighters on their feet… Steamboat reaches down and pulls Savage’s foot out from under him… Randy on his back… Ricky grabs both ankles and front-flips over his opponent, still holding Savage’s knees… Reverse double leg-lock for the pin…

Savage kicks out…

Both again standing… They lock up… The Dragon with a small package in the middle of the ring!

Savage frees himself…

Ricky rises first but Randy isn’t far behind… Steamboat grabs Savage and lifts him up to lay him down with a scoop slam… Dragon ain’t done yet… He grabs Savage’s legs and slingshots him into the turnbuckle… The Macho Man hangs a mess on the ropes… He frees himself only to stumble backwards and be pulled into another pin attempt by the challenger…

Macho Man saves himself after the two count…

Savage stumbles forward, attempts to slap the referee… He walks into the ropes, bounces backward… Steamboat is right behind the champion and as Savage bounces off the ropes, the Dragon again tries to roll-up the title-holder up for the pin…

A reversal by Savage! 1… 2…

The Dragon kicks out, launching Savage across the ring!

Ricky on his feet, Randy on his knees… The Dragon gives Randy a fist to the face… A second… Savage sees his opportunity… He grabs the front of Steamboat’s tights and tosses him toward the turnbuckle… The Dragon flies between the top and middle ropes and collides with the steel of the corner pole…

Steamboat just hangs there, dangling from the second rope… This gives Savage time to find his feet… He pulls Ricky from his place in the corner… Savage with an Irish-whip… Steamboat reverses! Macho Man reverses! The referee is in the way! Steamboat runs right into the ref, sending the man to bounce off the turnbuckle… The blue shirt sprawls out on the canvas…

Another Irish-whip by Randy Savage… Steamboat off the ropes… The Macho Man with a big clothesline… Randy’s back up, he’s heading to the top rope for that big elbow! The champion raises both hands to the sky… He flies…

Savage lands the big elbow! He leans back on his opponent’s chest for the pin… He counts to three, slamming his hand to the mat… The referee is still out; he bumbles around as he tries to regain his bearings… Savage heads to the outside after trying to manhandle the referee back to sense…

Here comes trouble! Savage is fighting with the timekeeper for the bell, that very same bell he already used to put Steamboat into instacare before…

Randy on the ring apron with the bell…

George ‘the Animal’ Steele up on the apron… He struggles with the Macho Man for the bell… He’s got it! He drops down to the floor… Savage brings a boot down on the back of the Animal’s skull… Steele falls to the ground and drops the bell… Savage retrieves the weapon… He’s heading to the top rope, weapon in tow!

An interference by the Animal! Hopping to the apron, Steele pushes the Macho Man off the top rope… Savage hits the mat hard… He might have come to crash on that bell when he fell… Either way, Randy is quick to his feet and grabs the Dragon… Savage lifts Steamboat for a scoop slam… The Dragon reverses with a rollup for the pin!

Steamboat has done it! We have a new Intercontinental Champion—Ricky ‘the Dragon’ Steamboat! He has overcome the Madness! He has beaten the Macho Man Randy Savage himself!
