NFL Power Rankings

Week 4

By Niko BanksPublished 9 months ago 4 min read

10. Seahawks

The Seahawks make their debut on the Power Rankings at 10. They took a bad loss in week one, but since then, they have competed and played well. They won every other game, and they flat-out embarrassed the Giants. They beat the Giants so badly. Giants fans were leaving Giants stadium early. Daniel Jones played so badly It looks like he should be benched. The Seahawk's offense looked as fluid as ever. We shall see how they do against better opponents, but right now, they are one of the best ten teams in the NFL.

9. Cowboys

The Cowboys dominated the Patriots and quite literally handed Bill the worst loss of his career. So why are they ranked so low on the Power Rankings? Why haven't they moved from last week? Because the offense still didn't look good. When you have shown that you can lose to a team like the Cardinals when the defense doesn't dominate, that's concerning. So, the offense needs to improve because the defense can't dominate every game. What happens in a competitive game if the offense can't play well during a blowout? The Dallas offense needs to show they can play well before the Cowboys can be taken seriously.

8. Chiefs

The Chiefs are down a spot on the Power Rankings, going from 7-8 despite winning this week. The Chiefs have only looked impressive against one team, and it was one of the two to three worst teams in the NFL. They still haven't played many great teams, and they didn't look good against those teams. The Chiefs barely beat the Jets, and it would be one thing if we could say, well, they are undefeated, but they lost to the best team they have played, which is the Lions. It seems like the Chiefs lost one weapon too many on offense, and maybe they will figure it out, but they don't look great right now.

7. Bucs

The Bucs rejoin the Power rankings at 7. The Bucs took the Saints to the woodshed. They didn't just beat the Saints. They made them look bad. This is a lasting loss that will stick with the Saints. Also, it sounds wild, but Baker could retire a Buc. Something about Baker and the Bucs feels right in a way that none of his other teams have.

6. Dolphins

The Dolphins have gone from number one to out of the top 5. The Dolphins lost badly. But I still believe in the Dolphins. I think the Bills just gave the Dolphins a wake-up call early so they can adjust and come back harder. You'd rather have your wake-up call in week four rather than, say, the playoffs. To me, this is the Patriots beating the Bills in game one. It's time to see if the Dolphins can learn and go back and sweep the Bills like the Bills did to the Patriots.

5. Bills

The Bills had a shut-up game. They took the number one team in the NFL and beat the hell out of them, effectively telling all detractors to shut up. There's nothing negative to say about that game. You just have to shut up and give the Bills their due. The Bills have jumped to the top 5, and their big loss, which is preventing them from jumping farther, might have propelled them to these heights by giving them a wake-up call.

4. Ravens

The Ravens roll on after defeating another opponent easily. There's not much to say about the Ravens because Deshaun didn't play, so the Ravens just did what good teams do and took advantage of the situation. The Ravens defended their number 4 spot.

3. Lions

The Lions have climbed to number three, their highest ranking of the year. They have beaten the Chiefs, dominated the Packers, and snapped the Falcon's undefeated streak. They look like one of the most talented offensive teams, and if their defense is as good as it looks, there's no reason they can't make a deep playoff run. Lions are serious contenders through 4 weeks.

2. Eagles

Eagles are interesting. They don't look like themselves, but in a way they do. The Eagles still aren't number one because they are playing too sloppy or close to inferior competition, but they keep winning. They may out-survive the other teams. Last year, they were undefeated for a long time, but it wasn't until week four that they took over the power rankings. Depending on how next week goes, they could be undefeated and number one in the power rankings in week 5 two years in a row.

1. 49ers

The 49ers are one of the last two undefeated teams. They are number one because of two, then the 49ers have looked the best. The 49ers have yet to look bad. They destroyed the Steelers they stayed above the Rams, adding to their regular season streak against them. The Giants game was probably the worst the 49ers have played, and they still won by 18. The Arizona Cardinals game was like a practice for them. The defense could have forced more turnovers and kept the Cardinal's score lower, but that's all you can say. Through 3 Weeks, the 49ers have been ranked #2 and #3, but in week four, they have taken the crown of the best team in football.
