The Indian Premier League (IPL) Mega Sale (or auction) will be held on 2 days i.e. on February 12th and the 13th in the year 2022. This will be held in Bengaluru (Karnataka) much ahead of the 2022 season as per reports. This is as per the news told to sports radio.

The reports also suggest that the new Indian Premier League team Ahmedabad will pick up Hardik Pandya, David Warner, and Shreya’s Iyyer much aheadhttps://sportsradio.app/ of the Indian Premier League 2022 Mega Auction. While the official confirmation from BCCI is awaited, sportsradio reported on Thursday (23rd December 21) that BCCI has informed all the franchises about the event date and details.

The full list of players for the auction is on the anvil and might be finalized by the mid of January. This will be after the 2 Franchises, who are new, have made their selections of a maximum of 3 players from the pool of auction. The Board of Control for Cricket in India made clear that there is no change in the schedule despite the fact that there is a match between West Indies and India (it is the 2nd ODI between West Indies and India, on Feb 12th in Kolkata). The actual date for the latest and new teams to exercise their pick was 25th December.

The Lucknow Indian Premier League Franchisee is picking up 2 other players Ishan Kishan and Rashid Khan and also KL Rahul as its captain. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is still yet to appoint the ownership of the Ahmedabad franchise to the CVC capital partners. The Star Sports have also been kept well informed about this decision (that Both the auction and the match will go ahead as planned). The Royal Challengers (RCB) are most likely to pick up Manish Pandey as their new captain for the Indian Premier League 2022 season, from the auction pool.

The British financial firm, CVC Capital Partners, spent nearly Rs five thousand six hundred and twenty-five crore (Rs 5625 crore) on this franchise however they never received any letter of intent from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for many months apparently due to their alleged links with the betting companies. And now the issue has been resolved to allow the franchises and the board to proceed with the auction. The initial 8 franchises were permitted to retain four players at the maximum ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022 auction. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is still doing its diligence on the company, looking into agreement issues, having to do with the CVC’s ties with the 2 betting companies in Brazil and Italy.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is taking the experts’ counsel (including a previous High court Judge) before they can actually appoint them as owners. And this process is very likely to further push the deadline. A total of twenty-seven players were held back by their franchises, and the remaining were let off (released) in the Indian Premier League event on 30th November 2021. All the 8 Indian Premier League franchises held on to their star and key players and released the rest according to the Indian Premier League 2022 retention policy.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has written to international boards and the state associations to send their players’ names to be enrolled for the auction by 17th January. This huge event will have 10 teams this year and will have more than a thousand players and as many as two hundred to two hundred and fifty to be auctioned. The Indian Premier League has also informed the respective franchises that the pre-auction briefing (a normal feature of every auction) is slated on Feb 11th. And has asked them all to be present in Bangalore by that evening. The existing 8 Indian Premier League teams have completed their retention process by 30th November.

They will be going to the pool to restructure their sides on the 12th of February. The new franchises will also start with an amount of Rs ninety crore just like the existing teams, to make the offers for a maximum of 3 players before the huge auction. The money they invest on auction day depends mainly on the number of players they end up drafting pre-auction. In the 2018 season, as many as five hundred and forty-five players offered to be auctioned. And this is expected to grow this year significantly. And this is also the last huge auction of the tournament as the franchises and the board find this idea redundant. In the future, they are raring to go to create their ecosystems to sign players.
