After being out of the T20 World Cup, now the Indian team has to play home T20 and Test series against New Zealand. Team India has been announced for the T20 series, but no announcement has been made about the Test yet. According to sources, the Indian team for the Test can also be announced soon. The three-match T20 series will start from November 17 and the Test series will start from November 25.

The team will host New Zealand, followed by the West Indies, Sri Lanka and South Africa, while the away series are against South Africa and England. All Tests will be a part of the second cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) and ODIs will be a part of the ICC ODI Super League. Apart from the tours, the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is also scheduled in the April-May period. India to play 2 tests against New Zealand.

India V New Zealand Tests 2021 :

1st Test – November 25-29, Kanpur

2nd Test – December 3-7, Mumbai

Rohit too much workload , according to The Times of India reports, after the rest of the entire T20 series Kohli is also being considered for the rest of the first Test.

Virat Kohli on a rest :

Virat Kohli likely to take a rest in the first test match against New Zealand in Kanpur but is likely to return for the 2nd test which is going to be played in Mumbai. He is already on a rest for the T20I series. He can also take rest for the 2nd test.

The Indian Test squad could be named in a couple of days with the selectors brainstorming over whom to hand over the reins in the absence of regular captain Virat Kohli who is likely to be rested for the series opening Kanpur Test against New Zealand later this month. Kohli, along with several other senior members of the Test team, will be given a much needed break having been part of various bio-bubbles since April this year.

A major reason behind this is Rohit’s ever improving credentials as a leader with few even suggesting he should lead across formats with Kohli being left to focus on his batting alone.

Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul are the openers in the crew. Hanuma Vihari and Rahane will frame the middle order while Wridhiman Saha is the best option wicketkeeper.

Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur could be rested

With a report claiming that the BCCI has taken the lead in managing the workload of players following concerns raised by Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and new head coach Rahul Dravid, several Test regulars could be missing from the squad for the two-Test series.

Captaincy in the Tests against New Zealand :

Ajinkya Rahane likely to captain in tests against New Zealand if Kohli doesn't return in the 2nd test vs New Zealand. Kohli will take over the captaincy if he returns in the 2nd test or else Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team in tests and KL Rahul will be the vice-captain.
