The latest edition of Impact Wrestling saw the completion of one match being set for Knockouts Knockdown. On the program, The Influence (Madison Rayne and Tenille Dashwood) defeated Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering, and as a result, they will challenge Jessicka Havok and Rosemary for the Knockouts Tag Team Championship at Knockouts Knockdown. Also, Impact's website announced the latest entrant in the eight-woman tournament, and it is none other than Chelsea Green.

Chelsea Green has had a banner year. Actually, she's had a banner career. After competing in indy promotions in her native Canada, Chelsea made an appearance on Monday Night Raw as Megan Miller, a woman who claimed to be Daniel Bryan's mistress--appearing as part of Stephanie McMahon's feud with Bryan's wife, Brie Bella. She later participated in the latest edition of WWE's Tough Enough, and it was in 2016 that she began her original and memorable run on Impact Wrestling.

Chelsea debuted as Laurel Van Ness, a spoiled and arrogant rich "Daddy's Girl" type character, and she was instantly placed in an angle where Maria Kanellis forcibly set up Braxton Sutter with Laurel, doing so as a way to torment her assistant, Allie, who was on the receiving end of immense verbal abuse from Maria. As the wedding was set to take place, however, Braxton professed his love for Allie, and that put the kibosh on Maria's plans.

As a result of the breakup, we saw a complete change in demeanor, as Laurel went from being the elegant, spoiled rich girl to...well...this:

This, IMO, was one of the best gimmicks I had ever seen, because it shows an immense amount of character development. Laurel Van Ness was introduced as a girl who literally got everything she wanted. This was a woman who was not used to being told, "no." In fact, that's a word that was never in her vocabulary. So it's no surprise that when Braxton Sutter looked right in Laurel's face and said "no" to marrying her, Laurel flat out snapped. What we got for many months was Laurel Van Ness continuing to wear the tattered remains of her wedding dress, smeared makeup, no shoes, and a crazed expression. And with that, the Hot Mess was born.

Laurel became the object of affection from Grado, who faced deportation and was attempting to propose to Laurel to remain in the country. The angle saw Laurel back to normal and later proposing to Grado herself, who accepted, only for Grado to panic when he realized that Laurel was Canadian, leading to Grado ending the engagement.

Laurel appeared to take the breakup well, but in actuality, she was slowly transitioning back into her evil "Hot Mess" persona. Bound for Glory in 2017 saw Laurel attack Grado out of revenge for being dumped by him, only for Rosemary to take down the crazed villainess. She was later pushed to the Knockouts Championship in early 2018, winning the vacant title in a tournament, and it was after winning the title that her feud with Allie was resurrected. Laurel successfully defended the title when she used the belt as a weapon against Allie, but her reign at the top ended in March 2018, when she lost the title to Allie.

Chelsea returned to WWE later in 2018, this time as a signed member of the roster. She competed on the NXT brand and was featured as the very first client of the Robert Stone Brand, and was even featured in the 2020 Women's Royal Rumble match. However, after teaming with Charlotte Flair in victory on an edition of NXT, Chelsea cut ties with Stone, and she was later called up to the main roster. Chelsea debuted on the SmackDown brand, but she was sidelined when she broke her wrist for the second time.

Chelsea ended up released in April 2021, but she has been in demand ever since, which is no surprise to this diehard fan. She appeared at Ring of Honor for commentary during the Women's Championship Tournament, and it was this past summer that Chelsea appeared at NWA EmPowerrr and won the first ever Women's Invitational Cup, and challenged for the NWA World Women's Championship on the following day at NWA73.

In addition, Chelsea has also returned to Impact Wrestling, and is often shown alongside her real-life fiancé, Matt Cardona. Chelsea's return will included her participation in the Knockouts Knockdown tournament. The tournament will also feature Mercedes Martinez, Lady Frost, Renee Michelle, and four other women. The winner will receive a future shot at the Knockouts Championship, and speaking of the title, Deonna Purrazzo will defend that very title at Knockouts Knockdown, though her challenger hasn't been revealed. The event will also feature a Women's Monster's Ball Match, showcased as a tribute to Daffney. Knockouts Knockdown will take place on October 9.
