Why Should I Pay for Financial Coaching?

Why do you pay for coffee? Why do you pay to eat out? Why do you pay for coaching for your child’s youth sports passion?

The number one question from everyone out there is: Why should I pay you to coach me on my finances?

If someone finds themselves in a financial pinch, I can see how it might seem counterintuitive to spend money on a service with no guarantees.

In life though, there are very few guarantees. You're guaranteed to pay taxes, you're guaranteed to be born and, despite the objections of some, you will die. Most services don't have guarantees. Think if your cable goes out for a few minutes or if your internet goes down. You probably don't have any way to get a refund on services not rendered unless there was a significant outage on the end of the provider.

It’s a great question to ask, don’t get me wrong, but at the core of the issue is that you need assistance with something that you know you can’t handle on your own.

Maybe you just need a hand with your monthly budget, or you need assistance with more complex issues. Of course, everyone is in a different place in life. Some might have thousands of dollars in the bank, but they're still living paycheck to paycheck. Some might be in debt to their eyeballs, but have a job that's paying them six figures.

Every situation is completely different because we're human beings. There is no one-size-fits-all strategy that can be employed to aid you in getting control of your finances so you have some money left at the end of the month and not month left at the end of your money.

Have you ever gotten to the end of the week and asked yourself, "hey where did my money go?" I know I have, it's not an uncommon situation for a person to find themselves in. According to a Forbes article from 2019, a whopping 78% of people live paycheck to paycheck. Think about that, that means they don't have enough savings to get through the smallest of financial calamities.

The answer is also the same answer as why you sign your son up for that quarterback camp in the summer, or sign your daughter up for pitching lessons, or vice versa.

You see a problem, you know you can’t fix the problem on your own, so you seek external assistance from a knowledgeable resource to help you get back on the correct path. It’s just the same as when you have a leaky faucet or need brake pads replaced on your personal vehicle.

There are experts out there. If you were the expert in every aspect of your life, you would be a unicorn. Everyone has a piece of life, or multiple pieces where they are not experts. For some it's finances, others its mechanical things like car maintenance. Yet for other people, they have a grasp on those, but they still need to pay experts like Comcast for cable service, or AT&T for cell phone service because they haven't created their own cell phone networks or cable services yet.

Aside from paying for a service, you are also re-investing in your future. Is there a better way to spend your time and money than by giving back to yourself and investing in your future self so you can have financial stability that you’ve never had before?

Don't come into a financial coaching session expecting to hear magic formulas. We aren't magicians, we can't create money out of thin air. However, what we can offer is an extra set of eyes and ears to your situation and can offer professional advice and information to help you get back on track.

The answer to the above question is crystal clear — there are very few investments in your future that are better than financial coaching.
