YouTube is a platform that is constantly on the lookout for more content creators.

Every day, new creators join its ranks trying to get a piece of the video income pie…

…but there’s one question I keep hearing:

How much money do YouTubers make?

People want to gauge the potential of YouTube as a money-making avenue.

Well, since I’m creating a channel myself, I actually researched these numbers and got a pretty good grasp on them, so I thought to share.

According to a variety of different sources, you can earn about $3 to $5 for 1000 views, but this amount will differ from channel to channel.

For example, entertainment niche channels usually have lower numbers because more people use Adblockers.

Finance channels have good numbers because advertisers in the niche usually pay more… and so on.

YouTube Average RPM: How Much Money Do YouTubers Make Every 1000 Views?

Well, as I told you earlier, it’s about $3 to $5 per 1000 views… but to be fair, the number is $18 per 1000 ad views.

It’s just that not ALL views are ad views, that’s why you can spot that difference in income numbers between views and ad views.

You’ll definitely need to grind a bit to really make money on YouTube, as the RPM is lower than what you experience on blogs…

…but if you scale, you’ll score some big numbers in less time.

How much money do youtube views make? It depends…

In other words, YouTube channels are quicker to scale but pay less for the same amount of traffic.

How Much Money Do YouTubers Make Per Subscriber?

The answer is a round ZERO.

YouTube doesn’t pay anyone based on your subscriber count.

Subscribers are simply people who choose to view your videos when they come out, so they want to be kept in the loop.

The more subscribers you get, the more views you’ll get on your videos because you’re not relying on newcomers only.

Another thing to take note of is that when you launch a new video, your initial views count will benefit from the added power of subscriber eyeballs.

This will propel you a bit further as the algorithm will better favor videos that do well shortly after launch.

How Much Money Can a YouTuber Make Per Video?

Well, it depends on views, of course, but it also depends on the video itself.

How many Google Ads are displayed in the video?

Longer videos usually display more ads than shorter ones, so more run time means more profit.

Note that this is only true if you can keep people watching though.

Finally, a rule of thumb is that a video with 1M views makes about $3000, so being a semi-famous YouTuber is kinda profitable.

Other stuff that influences your video’s income is the topic, the clickthrough rate of the ads, and the advertisers themselves.

How Do You Get Paid By YouTube?

Well, first things first you need to be on the YouTube partners program.

To be in the partners’ program, you need to have 4000 public watch hours in the past year, as well as 1000 subscribers.

After this is done, you can apply to the program, read the terms and conditions and have your Adsense account reviewed and approved.

Your channel and its content also need to be reviewed and approved.

Once you’re in the YouTube Partners Program, you have a minimum payment threshold of $100.

Then, you’ll be able to start generating money from Adsense, and you’ll get 68% of the generated revenue — YouTube (or Google) gets the rest.

How Do YouTubers Make Extra Money?

Well, there are other ways YouTubers can go about monetizing their channels.

The first and the real money maker is affiliate marketing.

They can review products or link them in the description, and when you buy them they get a cut.

They can also sell merchandise, and this is always something big YouTubers capitalize on.

Finally, it’s no wonder that past a certain size YouTubers also make substantial money via sponsorships, where brands pay them to get extra exposure.
