The Wowing 20s

The year 2020 will go down in history as a time that most would say “ The world is ending!”

Or is it beginning. The Wowing 20s is what I am calling it. Wow does not give justice to what chaos we have witnessed this year. Viruss’, pandemic, murder, hate, fear, chaos, anger, mental illness, fires, hurricanes, climate change, and much more. This is a year of transition. A year of change. A year of empowerment. To long have we given our life away to things that don’t matter. Stopping during this pandemic has given all a chance to stop. The power of stopping gives us sight to see. To look within so we can change the without. This is what our earth is going through. A time of wows, a time of chaos, a time of stopping.

There are decisions to be made about our future. Where are we heading as a society? What can we do to make a difference? How will these challenges face our future generations to come? No matter how we move forward we will be met with opulence, there can be no negative charge without a positive, and so the world is and so it goes. What if we met that opulence with understanding and compassion with the ability to stay in personal truths. This can be done gracefully as we have been shown through history by our predecessors. As many sad things that have happened through history so haven’t the good things happened. We can look at our current modern history of what good has come of the year 2020.

We can choose to look at the murder of Goerge Floyd, which was horrific, as sadness only or we can tranmute that into understanding the horrors others bestow upon others because others are hurting as much as all others. Now look at what this act the killing of Floyd created. People coming together to remember and honor all peoples no matter their stance, race, or beliefs. Even if there are few that aren’t there yet, they will come around or their children's children will come around. As we continue to come together we show the world we can be unified. Giving all peoples credit for committing to make this world better place by learning to un-see social stigmas.

With the pandemic we are seeing more and more communities coming together, more neighbors saying hello, more authentic relationships, ending of old relationships, and beginning of new. We can choose to look at the choices ahead as daunting or nerve racking or we can choose to stop and marvel at the wows. Staying present in the now.

A time of chaos and fires. A saying goes “As above so below.” Looking at the root of a tree will remind us how that tree once just a small seed has now grown into a monstrosity and is taking over the other trees around it. We make a decision to keep the tree or to plant a new one. If you keep the tree it will continue to take over the other trees around it. If you get rid of the old tree, give it thanks and plant a new one, then all the other trees around it can help provide more harmony and balance to the land. Fun fact: did you know that if a baby tree suffers from malnutrition the Mother tree will sacrifice itself to give the baby tree the nutrition it needs to survive. (Fantastic Fungi, documentary 2019). One thing our world society needs now is the need of coming together to heal nature, like we did with Geroge Floyd. Healing wounds of past and present. We must come back into harmony and balance with nature. Without nature we are nothing. Can we sacrifice enough so our planet can get the nutrients it needs so that harmony and balance are created. “The task that we face today is to understand the language of nature.”-- Paul Stamets

A time of chaos is what happens when we are at conflict with ourselves. A time of fires happens when we stop speaking up for our young. Just like the mother tree we must look past ourselves in order to find harmony and balance of life. We are faced with new horrors from our world of current, the horrors of human and child trafficking. This too is a blessing of 2020 as we can see and face these horrors ahead; we see the wow, we stop, we transmute, and find harmony and balance. Having had the tools all along for the obstacles we face as a society brings strength to one and all. May we have the remembrance of our own power for what's ahead.

With choices ahead of deciding who is going to represent us as a people, as a nation as interdependent beings. We face them with tools and knowing. We face them with understanding and compassion. We face them with stopping. We face them with strength. No matter what we choose this isn't the end. There is so much more beyond the bridge. Beyond the vote. Where will you go and what kind of experience will you have? Do you see yourself traveling, finding a cause, supporting a cause, starting a business, improving your business, changing careers, finding new relationships, ending old relationships, overcoming opulence, succumbing to opulence. To begin anew can be daunting but with the right tools you can go anywhere and nowhere. We have the power to change the future, it is not written in stone, a rewrite is course for action. Welcome 2021.
