Well, 2020 is a year for the books. It is a special year when the global pandemic broke out. A year when the virus kept us between the four walls of our home, and we can't go outside. Only for a small walk. Or doing the groceries.

Every country had its own style for handling this crisis. And it is not only a national crisis, but it is worldwide crisis. Every person in this world has something to do with this crisis, every country has something to do with this crisis, every company has something to do with this crisis.

It is really unbelievable how a virus turns a whole world upside down.

Still, we don't know everything about this virus. Nobody knows much about this virus, how dangerous this virus is. And the future with this virus will do with us, the human being, and the humanity side, the economy side as well when there will be a second lockdown.

Yes I believe there will be second lockdown. But when? I don't know. And maybe I am wrong, but this says my gut feeling.

This pandemic can cause a trauma with people. A trauma we have to face, but also give a spot in our hearts and system. It has such a huge impact in our daily lives now, but also in our future.

When does the vaccine come? When can we use it?

What are the consequences of the pandemic in our lives? What does it mean with social distancing? When can we go to normal? Do we still live with social distance for another year? For another two years? Who knows the exact answer.

And then we have the economic consequences. What do we get from the government? I know the cultural sector has its biggest problem here in The Netherlands. Recently I spoke to my sister who lives in The United Kingdom. There they give the cultural sector a very royal compensation.

People are trying to make needs end and because of this crisis, this is only got much worse than before the crisis as they really don't have that kind of money and their leader of the country is not doing anything about it.

All the hard-working nurses, doctors, health carers, and other health professionals are very tired of this coronavirus pandemic, and they are breaking every minute of the day, but they continue because of our health. That is what we have to embrace. Nobody is ever looking at this point of health carers.

It hurts me that a leader doesn't give a damn about them, only about himself. And a leader leaves his country out the WHO, is another dump thing you ever can do. Even when this leader is not my leader of my country, still it hurts me that he hurts his own citizens.

Not to forget about the Black Lives Matter Movement.

After the death of George Floyd, the president was not being a president: he never supported his citizens, for example walking along with the protesters. The president even went to a church with a Bible in his hands, let tear-gassed peaceful protesters to make just a photo of himself. Instead of taking a picture together with the protesters.

Black people have the right to protest at this moment. In the USA, there are so many protests right now. Against police brutality and against racism in general. It is not normal why people are doing this.

Black people are fighting against this the last weeks and everywhere in the world are protests against police brutality and racism too. To support the fighters in the USA.

It is really harrowing to see how the police interact with other people.

All lives matter, but at this point, black people are the most targeted ones. Just because they have a color. AND IT IS NOT FAIR. It is not humane.

I see inhumanity the last ten years of my life. Is this the life I want to live in? If yes, what is my part in life? What should I do to get back the humanity in people?

Of course, there is still humanity on earth, but where do you find that when police - who set an example when it comes to humanity and observance of rules - in this world?

It is really crazy to say that the police are not setting a good example towards other people? What does that say about the humanity of a person and even of an institution?

I think it is what people see of our example's the way they behave. If your local police department uses violence, then you may believe you are allowed to use violence too (because they are doing that too). Even that is not what our humanity should look like.

We have to change that, and it starts with you, me, your father, your grandmother, your local police department. Everyone around you needs to participate in this change. Otherwise, it won't work.

To me, this year, is - with these big events happening in the world - the misfit year. At least, in my living years this far.

The definition to misfit: "something that fits badly".

These events do not fit in a normal year, but also it does. It does belong as a normal year because it also belongs life, but also not, as these events doesn't happen that much in life or in a period of years.
