I’m half Filipino and I’m half American I want you to know that before you continue to read this. I have a voice and yet speaking that voice right now. During this time will only bring out backlash and hurtful words. I want to speak but I’m torn between good friends of all races. I was torn between giving them a reason to be angry at what I believe. I was raised to love and show respect and to understand there will always be good and evil. There will always be racism and there will always be violence.

And it is up to use whether or not we add more fuel to the fire. Or if we allow the fire to spread faster by adding our own fire. How can I say that everyone’s lives matter without receiving backlash? The hashtag all lives matter is a racist saying that denies what is happening right now. But protestors that are not just black but all races are beginning to stoop so low by turning to violence. There should be a hashtag for those that want to say something but don’t want to sound racist to any type of race, and gender. But there isn’t and it hurts so much. Please remember that it doesn’t matter what your race or gender is. There is love and we should spread that love.

Over the past few days, we have seen some awful things happen. It has taken an emotional toll on me to see what is happening and how I cannot say anything about it because I will recover negativity and backlash from one side or the other. George Floyd’s tragic death, violent protestors appearing in different states, deaths of police officers who were close friends. Over the past few days, I have only seen so many posts on social media about Black Lives Matter and Blue Lives Matter. I do agree what happened to George Floyd was unacceptable and the officer that committed the crime should be sentenced for first-degree murder. But I also believe that it is not right to say that only a certain type of lives matter. It shouldn’t matter what race you are your life is more precious than anything else.

And yet people are posting to go fuck yourself for the statement all lives matter. Yes, All lives matter is a racial statement that denies what is happening in our world right now. We should believe in a statement that doesn’t just focus on one race but all races. A statement that can say that it doesn’t matter what color you are. Racism can go to hell. I am seeing so many friends and classmates posting that black lives matter and blue lives matter.

I have a friend whose coworker a police officer died in an Ogden Utah shooting just a few days ago his funeral was today May 29,2020. I see so many posts about Black Lives Matter and Blue lives matter and I agree with both statements and yet there is no goddamn statement for me to post support of both without the harboring fear of being criticized. I only post this on vocal simply because here no one can comment. On vocal, there is judgment, yes but that judgment can not be posted and spread. It is safe and shielded. I have a voice but I’m too damn scared to speak that voice without the fear of being called a goddamn racist.

But I’m not but I believe that all races, genders, and skin types. They all matter and they deserve to live. The crime of George Floyd’s death should have been punished immediately and yet it took four days. All of the officers involved in the situation should be fired and trialed. It is not right to hurt someone of a different race. The world is not perfect but during this time of a pandemic and crisis. Protestors are becoming violent in order to raise their voices. People are endangering their lives to say that this has got to stop. Doesn’t that say anything?

Doesn’t that prove that it is childish and immature to continue to show racist behaviors to blacks, Asians, Latinos, and hell even Americans? Yes, Americans do experience racism. Yes, Asians experience racism. Yes, Latinos experience Racism. We all experience RACISM. And yet so many people try to say that only this race experiences it. That is also not right. But in the midst of this pandemic, they point blame to who commits the crime. I saw a hashtag just recently that stated all cops are bad. All cops are bad.

That itself becomes a racist statement because there is no such thing. There are food and evil in this world. We all have our good and evil selves fighting inside of us. It is not right to claim that all police officers are bad when that is not true. It’s just like saying that this race is pure evil just because of their skin color, because of their religion, because of their beliefs. You can be black, white, Asian, Latino, Caucasian, and or mixed race. You can be any type of race and still experience a type of racism. But it is up to you whether or not to add fire to the fire. And right now the protestors who are turning to violence to protest for George Floyd are adding fire to the fire. They are endangering themselves to make a statement.

There has to be a statement that stands to say every life matters without using racial discrimination. And yet still there isn’t one at all. It breaks my heart to see protestors stopping so low. These protestors becoming violent just reminds me of Little Rock Nine the five black students being escorted by the military while entering their new school. Their new white school, while entering that school they experienced racism and hate by whites who refused to accept them. Blacks are beginning to retaliate and turn into versions of those monsters. It rips my heart apart to see them stoop so low. Stop it! For the love of God stop it! More people will be lost unless we find a solution.

There’s always going to be racism but if we continue to choose to add fire to all of the fires that have begun to burn. Then it will only make things worse. Don’t make it worse protest peacefully don’t stoop so low. Please set a better example for the younger generation. Please stop expecting for so many to choose between black lives and blue lives. We need to focus that it doesn’t matter what race or gender that you have. That your life is more precious than anything else and there is love, hope, and peace.

I saw on facebook the first post that isn't as awful. But the awful I saw was the violent protests in Minnesota, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles. Every state has been having violent protestors and it is so terrifying. These are the people fighting fire with fire. But the good I was able to see was officers in Kansas participating in peaceful protests. I also saw a group of photos proving that over the years not all cops are bad. That gave me hope that everything will slowly be okay but we all have to rise up and stand up for what is right.
