Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, believing Russia is intending the "elimination of the whole nation and the people," has accused Russian forces of genocide.

Horrifyingly, noting a series of apparent war crimes committed by Russian occupation forces, Zelensky's claims are supported. Ukrainian authorities, after the Battle of Bucha, discovered more than three hundred residents killed.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in a video posted to his Twitter account on Friday, 25 Feb. 2022, makes his feelings about the war clear.

To the people of Ukraine: Slava Ukraini. To the people of Russia: I do not believe this war is in your name. This crisis, this tragedy, can and must come to an end. Because the world needs a free and sovereign Ukraine.

A more recent Twitter thread tweeted to Johnson's account, in plain English, is expressed without ambiguity:

Russia’s despicable attacks against innocent civilians in Irpin and Bucha are yet more evidence that Putin and his army are committing war crimes in Ukraine. 1/4

Evidence of civilian killings mounts. Human Rights Watch, an independent human rights organisation, confirms findings. War crimes perpetrated by Russian forces, including rape, summary execution, and looting, have been well-documented.

#Ukraine: “He told me to give him [oral sex]. The whole time he held the gun near my temple or put it into my face. Twice he shot at the ceiling and said it was to give me more ‘motivation.’” A Russian soldier raped her, repeatedly.

Human Rights Watch said it documented “apparent war crimes” by Russian forces against Ukrainian civilians in occupied areas. A report published Sunday describes laws-of-war violations with chilling detail, including repeated rape and two summary killings.

American political leaders, as well as European Union and NATO leaders, have reacted to emerging reports out of Bucha. Reporters working out of Bucha, just outside Kyiv, discovered at least twenty bodies in the streets. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, referencing scenes of bodies left on the street, said it is like a "punch to the gut".

We strongly condemn apparent atrocities by Kremlin forces in Bucha and across Ukraine. We are pursuing accountability using every tool available, documenting and sharing information to hold accountable those responsible.

MSNBC's Ali Velshi, in a tweet tweeted to his Twitter account, paints a vivid portrait:

The massacre in Bucha is a kind of barbarism that the Russians have engaged in repeatedly, notes @AVindman . “The brutality you see here is a rot that affects the entire society.” #Velshi

What's happening in Motyzhin?

The Ukrainian military, after Russian forces were pushed across the border into Belarus, happened upon evidence of 2,500 suspected war crime cases. Evidence, inclusive of a mass grave discovered near Motyzhin, continues to accumulate.

The bodies of numerous villagers, not yet identified, have been discovered mutilated. Some villagers, before being killed, had their hands bound.

Olha Sukhenko, as well as her entire family, were found dead. Sukhenko, before her disappearance, served as the village head. The village head, along with husband Ihor and son Oleksandr, had been taken hostage by insurgent Russian forces.

Motyzhyn, situated in Kyiv Region, has been deemed unsafe since at least the beginning of the war. Russian forces, on Wednesday, 23 March 2022, made their presence felt at the Sukhenko residence. They conducted searches of the property, taking a car, the Russians quickly left.

The same day, not long thereafter, Russian forces returned to the residence and took with them the entire Sukhenko family. Tetiana Semenova, the Kyiv Regional Council Deputy Head, reported Olha Sukhenko missing. Comparisons have been made to Katyń 1940. The imagery, unquestionably startling in scope, speaks for itself.

The entire Kyiv Region, according to the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, has been liberated from Russian invaders.

U.K.'s Ministry of Defence Update...

The U.K.'s Ministry of Defence, on Sunday, 3 April 2022, put out an update regarding Russian troop activities. Russian forces are reported retreating from areas surrounding Kyiv. The tweet:

  • Russian forces are continuing to consolidate and reorganise as they refocus their offensive into the Donbas region in the east of Ukraine
  • Russian troops, including mercenaries from the Russian state-linked Wagner private military company, are being moved into the area

These claims, despite being credible, cannot be independently verified.

Large explosions are reported in Odessa...

Odessa, as residents seek emergency shelter, comes under fire. Large explosions are reported in and around the port city. The Russian Air Force, according to Ukrainian officials, have fired multiple missiles into Odessa. Some missiles, not reaching their targets, were successfully intercepted.

Moscow is planning to mobilise an additional 60,000 extra troops. President Vladimir Putin, earlier last month, indicated no conscripts or reservists would be sent to what he calls a "special military operation".
