The End of the World

Environmental Degradation

While an apocalyptic event is not newsworthy, we humans are great at one thing: destroying our planet. Star visitors laugh at our ignorance daily. In the United States, at least, we are not tackling climate change at all. Climate change is real. The most ardent Republican needs to know this. Climate change could kill us with rising sea levels. In 30 years, the coastal cities could flood unless we do something about it now. We live during a time when tyrannical leaders are popular with the masses. People want to feel safe in order not to think about much.

Plastic is polluting our oceans, as we effectively destroy our planet with this. Most people are too busy working to think about changing the world or doing their part. Recycling makes but a dent in our garbage problem. Plastic is in every ocean around the planet. One solution is a fleet of civilian ships and submarines that clean up the plastic around us. There are solutions to every problem if we all take responsibility and think about it more. But the thing is, people are too busy working as well as spending money on stuff that they don’t have time to think about issues that impact the world.

It is high time to start a think-tank made up of young people 20+ that want to change the world. These people are able to think up solutions. Maybe some people have already decided to invent this think tank. How do you find one? We are arrogant enough to assume that the ice caps are not melting as fast as we think. We have a major blind spot when it comes to nature. We feel we are above the law with regard to nature. This arrogance will bring us to ruin if we deplete our natural resources any further than they have already been depleted.

Earth humans have a long history of killing each other for resources. The killing occurred to lower population numbers. War was seen as an easy solution to whittle down the population in general. The human race is effectively self-destructive as a whole and yet people can’t seem to imagine a better world because of their intrinsic apathy. Nobody has thought of solutions to what plagues us. The elite keep growing richer while the poor are left marginalized on a curve. Some of them can work their way out but everybody is trapped, locked into a class based on income.

Everybody is busy being paranoid about global governance, or at least global unification on top of that. We are already not free at all. We are slaves to money, debt, and work. We spend a lot of time hating each other over dumb things like race, religion, or political leaning. It is easy to hate somebody for liking something that you do not like, for example. We have sunk into consumerism and apathy since some people cannot appreciate art. Art is growing to become something average people cannot hope to appreciate.

Something has to stop our environmental decline. Something big. Something huge. A commitment needs to be made in order to stop damaging our environment daily by thinking about how to throw away stuff into recycling. At least we recycle and have for the last twenty years or so because the Industrial Revolution is what gave us our pollution. Pollution is what causes illness on this planet. The cause of chronic illness, autoimmune disorders, and cancer are the chemicals in our environment, which renders some people able to handle toxins better than others. The plain simple truth is that nobody on Earth is healthy. But Big Pharma and Western medicine would like to keep it this way without curing illness. If we protested this state of medicine, imagine what that could lead to besides mass arrests. In fact, we need to protest the state of our planet anyway to demand solutions to pollution from our world leaders. We need to get together and discuss the problems not through war, but through breakout groups. We have to start resolving world problems, but it’s not meant by one person to do that. This duty belongs to all of us since we also have to work on making sure that no one country drops the bomb on anyone.
