Away with ‘Vulgar Influencers’! No More ‘Lapsed Morals!’
Online video games? Bad! TV talent competitions? Bad! Welcome to the new China — which kind of looks like the old China, only more so.
Hamish AlexanderPublished 3 years ago in The SwampThe Pandemic
The Ted Talk video that I watched stated that we are no longer in a health crisis. Instead, they claimed we are purely in a financial crisis now. I am torn between both of these statements because I can see both sides of it. I have a compromised immune system, which puts me in a higher risk category relating to Covid-19, therefore, of course it is still a health crisis to me. However, the pandemic lockdowns have affected my finances, just as it has many other people, so I see that side of the story as well. There is another crisis that the pandemic has caused, which is not talked about much in the media, which is the mental health struggles.
Emily OBrienPublished 3 years ago in The SwampWhy the Oscar Ratings Keep Tanking
I chose not to watch the Oscars last night. The thought of being lectured by "woke" Hollywood elites churns my stomach, and so I watched two West Coast Baseball teams duke it out on the diamond. As a Midwesterner, that's incredibly uncommon, but desperate times call for desperate measures. In fact, had Olympic Curling been on, I'd chosen that over the virtue signaling actors at the podium last night. Many Americans must feel the same as I. Last night, less than 10 million viewers tuned in, a 58% drop from last year. Sadly, those living in Hollywood's Ivory Towers fail to comprehend why we the peasants turn up their noses on the film industry's special night. For many of us, the reasons are obvious.
Justifying my Royal Interest
If you’re Irish, it forms part of your cultural identity to express disdain towards Britain. Whether it’s scoffing at Brexit, fuming at their claiming of Irish actors as ‘British’ when they start doing well for themselves, or good old-fashioned rugby rivalry, it runs through our veins. The Brits are the classic baddies we love to hate.
Satanism in popular culture: what is the Church of Satan?
On Twitter, the Church declared in November 2018: “Veganism (a diet) is not Satanism (a religion), but there are some Satanists who are vegans and some vegans who are Satanists. One is not a subset of the other.”

Even more so today, when that struggle of confidence meets, a possibility of error, Is it possible the answer is not in some miracle drug, but in naturally grown remedies? and finally what do you do, when the world fixes its covid nightmare, returns from financial disaster, only to realize the planet is crumbling at the seems. It is times like these that try mens souls. And I say lets get to trying..

The only cure for your anxious mind is solidarity. This is a summary/review of a new podcast I came across, The Entry Level Left Podcast. I’ll link it at the bottom. After only hearing the first episode, I am hooked. *note: the first episode was re-recorded. I listened to the newer version, not the original.

All over the globe, nobody would have predicted that the year 2020 would be affected by a global pandemic. Over the years, some parts of the world have been recorded to be bedeviled with deadly diseases. For instance, the Ebola Virus did not affect all the countries of the world during its reign. However, virtually all countries of the world were hit and are still hit with the deadly coronavirus. It has caused an abrupt end to every activity that cut across all phases of life as churches, mosques, markets, stadia, music and entertainment industry, public and private companies, schools, etc were all put on hold forcefully. In a nutshell, a global lockdown was enforced in order to find a lasting solution to the deadly virus.

At 6 o'clock EST, my family and I gather to pay homage to our mortality. It is human nature to cling to familiarity, and in these turbulent times we have committed to upholding as many family traditions and maintaining as many daily routines as possible, just to preserve the illusion that we have any semblance of control. TV together at dinner is one of these routines. Dinner at the same time every evening, and the same channel with the same program while we eat.
MFGA: Make Fashion Great Again
MAGA hats, thought of by some as symbols of patriotism and nationalistic pride, representing an unspecified time in American history when everything was great, have swept across the USA over the last four or so years like a great fever, driven by the passion of the last President's supporters. But now with a new President in town, isn't it time these caps, which have come to represent so much that is wrong in the world, also find their place in the history books, or better yet, the bin?
