controversies

It seems every time one racially-charged incident ends, a gender or religious controversy takes its place; Ruminate on the issues dividing our nation and world.

I Will Be Wearing a Mask and So Should You
Did you hear the news that even some vaccinated people are getting sick from the new Delta Variant of COVID-19? And here my Facebook timeline is blowing up with people traveling all over, maskless, and completely ignoring the common sense of social distancing?

To Police or Not Police, that is the Vaccination Question
There have been many campaigns to legislate or document the pandemic to some degree. In England, there was no jab or no job. There were many countries forcing vaccinations to encourage mask removal for the public sector. Here in the United States, it's a different story.

PBS - Propaganda, Bias, and Selective Mistruths on China
Every year the tax-payer funded Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) receives over $26 million dollars from Congress through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. In return, PBS pledges to “serve the public interest through content that informs, educates, inspires, and entertains.” In addition to this, PBS “content must be responsive solely to the needs of the public—not to the interests of funders,” which would include Congress. Yet PBS appears to be allowing the influence of one of its funders, the U.S. government, to control what makes it on air and what doesn’t.

Naive! US scientists regret co-signing an open letter involving "laboratory leaks"
"I may be naive," said a scientist who co-signed an open letter requesting to investigate the hypothesis of a new coronavirus "laboratory leak". She regretted signing the letter, but did not expect it to be used to promote conspiracy theories.

International sharp comment丨The United States, which "pods drugs" to the world, can't think of accusing others
The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences recently published an inference data that shocked the world: American scientists found that the actual number of new coronavirus cases in the United States may be underestimated by 60%, that is, as many as 65 million Americans may be infected with the new coronavirus. This makes people realize once again that the world's only superpower has not controlled the epidemic within its borders at all, and it is a shortcoming in the global fight against the epidemic. Coupled with the fact that the US government has not taken any effective exit control measures, the new crown virus is spreading from its territory to all over the world-this is simply a global "poisoning" behavior.

Rights without Responsibility
Since the advent of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic and its variants, I have heard a lot of people talk about "their rights". They should have "the right" to refuse vaccination, the "right" to refuse a mask, the "right" to create lies and miseducate people. But what exactly are rights? Are these so-called "rights" god-given, are they something we are born with, and most importantly, do they come without any burden of responsibility?

Fundamental ShortCummings
I recently finished watching 'The Sopranos' (highly recommend by the way) and it's an interesting insight into Mafia culture in the modern world. The idea of being a "rat" as the worst thing you can ever be is interesting, especially given how common a thing it has become in the advent of the witness protection programme and the rise of FBI influence since the 1960s. The Mafia is full of rats, but the code still stands. And it is punishable, deservedly, by death, members would say.

Political Myths In The System
Why do so many Americans seem to equate their opinions, wishes, or desires with facts? Suppose you are like many others by now. In that case, you may be sick - and - tired of constantly listening to so many people, who express their opinion, and that of some politicians, or members of the media, as being, the truth! One might believe he can change someone's mind by showing them the reality. But, unfortunately, in most cases, many seem to refuse to consider anything, which doesn't directly align with reality! With that in mind, this article will attempt to consider briefly, examine, review, and discuss five political myths/ lies and try to dispute and debunk them.

America’s Afghan War Is Over, So What About Iraq – and Iran?
At Bagram air-base, Afghan scrap merchants are already picking through the graveyard of U.S. military equipment that was until recently the headquarters of America’s 20-year occupation of their country. Afghan officials say the last U.S. forces slipped away from Bagram in the dead of night, without notice or coordination.

(White?) Nationalism at the Walmart on the 4th of July
I don't know exactly when we started doing this, but at some point in time my brother and I (both cis white males) began referring to Walmart as "the temple." We've never really discussed why we do this. Like a neglected gardening aisle in the back of a Walmart, the moniker might lose its charm if we pay too much attention. But who or what would be the Almighty in this scenario? Sam Walton? Stockholders? Money itself? The ancient Greeks and Romans had many gods.
