Nicola Sturgeon Mentioned in Conference Speech.

Prime Minister: Rishi Sunak.

Sunak made what would be His last speech before next year's general election. One of the most controversial parts of the speech was about HS2. Despite West Midland's Mayor Andy Street and Greater Manchester's Mayor Andy Burnham's protestations, HS2 is being wound up. There had been speculation about, what, exactly Sunak and Chancellor Hunt would do about it. Sunak revealed, in his conference speech, that HS2 would be closed down between Birmingham and Manchester. Instead, Sunak said, the 6 million that it was taking to construct the line would be ploughed back into developing motorways, in need, of repair. That's all well and good, but one of the reasons for constructing the rail system was to take traffic off the road. Now with the winding up of the Birmingham - Manchester line, more commuters must find alternative ways of travelling. Which will create more congestion on our already busy roads and motorways.

Burnham and Street will not be very happy but the decision has been taken. Why the choice was made to close it, is known only, to Sunak and Chancellor Hunt. Perhaps, it was costing too much. Sunak and Hunt have stated that the 6 million will be ploughed back into Northern and Midlands projects, but will it? With a general election on the horizon, will ploughing the money back, even be a top priority for this useless government? Even if the money is ploughed back into local projects, it's doubtful, if polls are correct, that Sunak's administration will be in power, to see the results of the supposed investment.

It seems that Andy Burnham and Andy Street (a Tory) will have to put up with rail infrastructure from when Queen Victoria was on the throne. I am not really surprised. When it comes to government investment, the Midlands is just about remembered while the North is completely forgotten. How the government's 'levelling up' plans are doing in those parts of England remains to be seen. It seems, with Sunak, destroying the Midlands-Northern part of HS2, also, his focusing Britain, on more fossil fuels like oil, he is deliberately trashing everything, other Tory Prime Ministers did before him, particularly Boris Johnson. If this is a real or deliberate attempt to make him look tough, people will not be impressed. If this is a real or deliberate attempt to make it like he is distancing himself from Cameron, May, Truss, etc., he has another thing coming.

No doubt, about it, Sunak in polling, is in a desperate place. His ratings are in the bin, and short of a miracle, it now looks like Labour, will be forming the next administration. So Sunak and his cabal, are grasping at anything, that will (so they think) make them more popular and win them the general election. Sunak's 5 pledges of stopping the boats, growing the economy, and bringing down NHS waiting lists, (even if he was serious) are too little, too late. Suella Braverman's speech about a hurricane of migrants coming our way might be real. However, it could just be, however, a cynical ploy to get anti-migrant voters, to support, her party. Make no mistake, Sunak and his chums, are in a desperate place, and they will try anything to get back into power and continue our misery. Knowing they will probably lose the next general election, would they deliberately trash the economy? Leaving Labour with a huge mess to clean up on top of every other deprivation they have done?

Meanwhile, Sunak, in his conference speech, mocked former Scottish First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon. Saying she wanted to go down in history, as the person, who won independence, for Scotland. But instead, Sunak referenced that Sturgeon could find herself, in "not water' with the Scottish Police.

Sturgeon was arrested and investigated by the police for alleged financial irregularities. So a member of the rival Alba Party reported Sunak to the police over what he had said about her.
